Mark Renshaw

I like the guy, seems like a good bloke, but his foray into being a sprinter hasn't worked out. He has the speed but not the kick and everyone knows his wheel will be a good one to follow.

So, with Blanco having no sponsor and OPQS lead-out looking like it needs a final man, what are the chances of seeing him and Cav team up again next season?

I hope he goes back to being a leadout man again there is no one better at that job than Renshaw.

To be honest, I was a little surprised it didn't happen this season. The Blanco riders have free reign to move on whenever they want don't they?

It'd stop the speculation of Boonen being his final man, which seems a huge waste.

Just does not have the top end speed to match it with the best. Great bike handler and lead out man. I bet Cavendish would like to have him at Quickstep.

A waste of what? Cav has a larger chance of winning a sprint than Boonen, and what is Boonen gonna do during the Tour if he isn't riding? The Worlds don't suit him at all, and the Vuelta is pretty tough too. But he's become too chicken to be a decent leadout, so it'd be as hopeless as Steegmans. Renshaw better move to OPQS if Cav wants to have full support next year.

Well, he could not ride the tour and save himself for other races/give a better leadout man his spot. I wasn't specifically limiting it to this season, as Renshaw wouldn't join until next year anyway.

Also, I'm sure there must be a couple of stages where Boonen could make the selection, rather than hope they drag Cav back into the fold, although I'm not really familiar with the route this year yet.

If he goes back to a leadout man it will be at OPQS. Cav is still short of a super final man who'll ride the races he does.

would you want to lead out a douch-e bag or a good bloke?

I will remind you that Renshaw is not exactly reputed to be a well-mannered, kindly gentleman in his own right and is well known for putting his weight around. Him and Cav work well together both in the sprint and in the pack. Cav's mouth and Renshaw's muscle.

Him being an Aussie, might be tempted if OGE make a good offer.

Possibly, but given he's still disappointed he was snubbed for the Australian 2011 Worlds RR squad he may still have some negative feelings/concerns about going to OGE (there's a lot of cross pollination between OGE and the Cycling Australia Road programme, even without Matt White).

But nothing a big $ offer couldn't overcome. However I think if Cav demands it, OGE won't match the $ OPQS can bring to the table.

You've obviously never met Mark Renshaw. He's one of the nicest blokes I know, his job was to be a body guard for Cav so some people probably have that opinion of him.

When OGE was set up Renshaw spoke to them once but neither of them was really interested in each other and it ended there. The close links with Cycling Australia are also a problem.
