Massage and cycling

Hi all,
I'm a cycling first year osteopathy student trying to get some extra cash, just trying to guage interest wether it would be viable to bring a tent and a table to club racing for quick rubdowns before/after racing, and how much you would be happy to pay for the service. Massages would normally last an hour so obvoiusly i wouldnt be able to provide that level of service to a large number of people but just quickly

-would you be interested?
-how long would you want to be worked on?
-how much would you pay?

any other advice or suggetions would be welcomed!
Thanks :)

Its a great idea, but at the end of the day no matter how reasonable you charge you might get one client from it. Most cyclist will spend major bucks on a bike and what not but something for themselves as in their bodies wellness... well most tend to not spend much on their own health or if they do its in the wrong dept.

I doubt most have ever had a massage and if you're a guy well there's that barrier to overcome. Ironic, reverse double standard, yes but it is what it is.

You would be better off to join with another new masseur and offer a cheaper 20min leg massage. If there were two of you youd get more interest due to no waiting.

Also, think of this mot as a money maker but as a way to go public and find more regular clients during the week.

My wife has done precisely this

another good direction is to approach a team/club at your local race, offer their members a discount and be the team massuer, others would see it as legit and use you when the team wasn't. short, intense, lactic acid removal leg massages would do best. set up a little wall where next in line could lay on their back with their legs up for 10 min

You said massages for an hour? You do this before a race? Can anyone actually pedal after an hour of leg work? I have never seen much more than 15 to 20 minutes before a race. Warm up and loosen. I am not an expert so I ask as an observer only.
Even if you add embrocation and grease for rain days I find it hard to imagine just dropping in. What about a team? Is there a club or team that regularly races in your area? go to them as a club service. How much? Nearly nothing at first. You may have to create your market. Massage some guys that win and maybe someone makes a connection and ....

sorry didnt make that very clear, yep before you'd just want a quick warm up massage to get things going, of course deep tissue just before a race would be counter intuitive. After racing a bit deeper, but still not deep tissue, to get rid of toxins and increase blood flow to aid recovery
