After 3 mediocore years at BMC Mauro seems to have taken a right step in joining Vini ( although he's been quite good in his last year for BMC - e.g. 5th in Lombardia I think )

Holly ****! I knew he was a very decent puncheur before this year. But how he transformed himself into GT climber I don't know. But I am loving it.

2nd best climber to Froome in Tirreno MTF was the first massive sign. Then 2nd best to Nibali at Giro del Trentino. And now he's just continuing impressing!

Can he make a Giro podium? I hope so. Surprise of the year for me.

Great to see Santam win today and finally take VF first win of the race, and now is on the verge of making the podium. He's having a great season.

I was impressed with his form early this year so took 66/1 on him to win the Giro each-way and also found 20/1 for a podium. Cheering him on all the way in this last week. :D

Proving himself to be a very good GT climber. Keep going Santa!!!

I knew he was going to ride really well this year, as he already did great last year in the few races he got to race for himself. However I ofcourse didnt expect him to go this well in the real mountains. Always saw him as a very good hill rider who could survive mountains.

But really happy about his performances because I like the guy.

Impressive performance. He's been in good form throughout the year so people shouldn't be surprised he is doing well at the Giro.
The shortened stage tomorrow should suit him. Hope he goes ballistic.

Testing last week for him.
The Tre Cime stage should be his main obstacle. Would love to see him on the podium.
