Atleast its a legitimate injury, Boonen didnt get too high/ drunk and fall over (injuring himself.)

Or drink to much cool-aid and play Nintendo while "jacked."

Here's a video of the last kilometer. When you get to the site, you'll see the "laatste kilometer" link to the right of the window. Click it.

It looks to me like Petacchi was borderline at fault. You see it in the overhead shot. But it's a tough call, Van Avermaet may have caused it mostly on his own as he was the first guy to go down.

A bit of a warning: This is an awful accident. Robbie and Tom look like they were hurt pretty bad, a lot of asphalt burns and skin scraped away.

IMO, Petacchi didn't keep his line and went to the left; which is OK because he already passed Van Avermaet who couldn't keep up the pace. McEwen however, in his effort to keep Petacchi's wheel, did not take into account he could not go to the left as well because Van Avermaet was still there. So he touched Greg who was blocked by the barriers on the outer side. It was a blind sprint by Robbie.

Van Avermaet says he touched Petacchi's wheel because he moved to soon to the left. Boonen says McEwen took to many risks.

As for the injuries: McEwen seems to have a mild concussion, and i've also read something about a broken rib (+ he coughed up some blood).
Boonen was worried about his foot.

Here the direct link to the video of the fall: http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza.be/mediatheek/1.507613

McEwen told Sporza yesterday he has no fractures, only a mild concussion. And of course a lot of scrapes and bruises, but he should be on the bike again in a few days. No further news on Boonen's injury yet.

Is that not always the case? When a crash happens, it was always somneone else's line that interfered?

Still a horrible crash and I bet they all can be thankful for getting up and (sort of) walk away from it all
