someone needs to explain to El Presidentee McQuaid what a Lie is ::::
to quote him
Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) president Pat McQuaid has denied that the Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC) has sent his organisation documentation from the Contador case in order to produce a joint verdict.

"As of Friday, when I left the UCI offices, we had received nothing from the Spanish Federation about Contador," McQuaid told Cycling Weekly on Sunday.

"We have had no contact with them over this case."

now today we have the following

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) confirmed on Monday that it has in fact received all the documentation relating to Contador's positive for clenbuterol from the Spanish Cycling Federation's Disciplinary Committee and that the documents are being studied by its anti-doping and legal departments.

According to a press release, the documentation for the case was sent to Switzerland on December 10, exactly a month ago, from Spain.

time for the Irish idiot to go !!!!!

McQuaid is an embarrassment to the sport. He really needs to go.

He'll make sure he won't be suspended

I believe you are correct. It seems that up till now he has not wanted this whole affair with AC to not see the light of day. It does not matter the process involved with doping suspensions, he has wanted to keep this away from anyone. We'll see how much influence has now. I think it somewhat diminished now.

dunno. AC was apparently targeted for extra testing during the Tour, while e.g. Schleck was not. One could see the hand of Pat behind this.

That is why it is confusing. I also believe he was targeted, but then why all diversion afterward?

dare i suggest blackmail? targeting AC and getting a positive would be a great cash earner for Pat, to keep it under wraps like they did for the uniballer, those blood machines are getting expensive and the uniballer one is out of date:D

hehe, +1.
Possible indeed.
Scenario: Pat informs AC of the positive, tells him the positive won't be made public, and awaits patiently for any financial settlement proposals to come. Once these stay out, he decides not to announce the positive himself (as he had already promised AC not to do so), but instead leaks the news to a German reporter.

Not at all a far fetched scenario

Queue the Sgt Schulz picture?

Now, how on earth could there have been no contact over this case in the first place?

Have I missed something here? Who was responsible for the test in the first place? Wasn't UCI in charge of testing at the Tour? Aren't they the ones that decided which samples got sent to Cologne?

UCI says Alberto Contador's Tour de France doping positive requires further scientific investigation

Contador's positive result was reported by the WADA accredited laboratory in Cologne to both the UCI and WADA simultaneously

No contact with the RFEC? Who is he kidding? It was contact from UCI that started this whole thing in the first place:

I nominate this post as "Most likely True Situation" of the month.

I think this is exactly how Pat operates. The suitcase filled with cash didn't arrive quickly enough.

Armstrong not only delivered the required suitcase, but made a future investment to become a partner.

In between the Sunday attack on El Pais and the official statement, Tuttobiciweb talked to the UCI spokesman and confirmed the documents and the agreed upon deadline. Was McQuaid lying again, or is he that far out of the loop of what's going on in the office? And the official statement said the RFEC had submitted the documents on December 10, and the UCI had received them ten days later???

I thought for sure he'd stay quiet for a bit after his own staff proved him wrong, then he, with no new knowledge, came up with Contador missing the Tour de France. Did he really consider himself an expert on Contador's fitness level? They (the UCI and WADA) insist that the Competition Committee makes the decision, even while they're grandstanding and baiting them in the press. But if the CC declares him innocent for whatever reason, he's innocent until they can take it to CAS and possibly get it overturned. The UCI would have no right to keep Alberto from racing.

As for the delay, and the Cologne Lab - in the WADA/AMA Independent Observer Report for the Tour, it said that the Lausane Lab had a 72 hour turnaround on the samples they handled, per agreement. The UCI had an e-mail only agreement with the Cologne Lab with no time stipulations, and planned to send samples from three days for additional testing. They ended up sending ten samples, two of which would have been Contador's 50 picogram and 20 picogram. Th AMA said that the Cologne Lab samples were returned within the standard ten working day period. In real life that turned out to be more than a month after the test. Yet Fahey condemns the Spanish Federation for their slow justice.

The "further scientific study" went on from late August until early November, with scientists from two organizations having two and a half months to generate 600 pages of documents. Don;t forget the promised "8 to 10 days" that wasn't met. Since then, McQuaid has said it's a simple case, one that's way too scientific for lawyers, so complex it will take quite some time, and on and on.

In the beginning he kept it a secret and told Contador to do so too, as everything would be okay. Now he says the sport and the Tour de France don't need him, and it's good for other guys to get the chance.

He talks about delays, but Pellizotti has been forced to wait since October to see if they'll appeal to the CAS. They could have done that when they were unhappy with the decision in October but they've already got 2 guys at the CAS fighting the Biological Passport.

My life kind of sucks, and has for quite a while, but I never get angry outside of pro cycling. But I do so pretty much every time this guy speaks, be it saying the pro team selection process is totally transparent, and in the same interview saying they can't let the secret criteria used get out, or saying that teams shouldn't hire riders who have served their bans and have no further punishment coming.

What is DiLuca paying the 170,000 Euros for, and where does the money go?

If I'm not mistaken, don't the other guys always have a chance? They just need to rider harder, faster, and strategize a little better. A little luck helps some too.

And they need to reconnoiter the climbs too. That's the ultra-top-secret strategy for success.
