Menchov's TT Bike

This was posted in the thread for today's Vuelta stage, but I think it was quickly lost amid other discussion.

This is really bothering me. What kind of bike is Menchov riding? It is certainly neither a Fuji D-6 nor a Kestrel 4000, the two bikes his team's sponsors could provide. (look at pics of those two bikes. Both decidedly curved looks. His frame today is rather angular.) Adding to my suspicion is the fact that all the frame says is GEOX-TMC. Were it a prototype from Fuji or kestrel it would surely have their name on it. What is he riding?

I thought that perhaps he might have a disguised Giant Trinity as that's what he used to ride at rabobank but the frames don't look similar to me.

Thoughts?

Could also be a Wasler

Regardless of who made it very strange move by the team to not brand it with the teams bike sponsor.

Yeah, wondered about GEOX-TMC, too.

Agree with RR, that it could be a Walser handmade.
Ullrich used to ride those, and also some other riders who needed the passion and accuracy of Mr.Walser, and had the money.

But somehow it looked too edgy for a Walser. Need pictures.

Anyone find a pic of Menchov from today's stage?

I am searching for one, but couldn't locate it yet. Most websites haven't added today's stage, yet. Those who have do not have a picture of Menchov. I'll search for some video's too, maybe I can make a screenshot. (To be honest, I don't he will be included in most summaries).

giant it is

Yup. Frame angles and the chain and seatstays look decidedly giant trinity to me. Interestingly enough though, Menchov rode the Kestrel 4000 (like the rest of his teammates) earlier in the season.

Here's a pic from the Vuelta a Murcia. Wonder what made him change again...

But still, why ride two different tt-bikes within such a short of time. Did he train on both? Was it mandatory, due to the fact his bike would stand out as different during the TTT?

Why risk injury from using a different make bike during such a demanding thing as a TTT? It can lead to injuries, I don't imagine him training on both models.
