Robbie signed!

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/mcewen-hunter-join-team-radioshack

Ahhh...

There you go. Everyone comes out of this mess looking pretty.

The Aussies get their golden boy (although not their GT one) on a sweet ride, the Belgians don't have to worry about 'Stegy', and we can all shut off our BS meters for a couple of weeks.

Right. How stinky is this?

If what's coming down the pipe ends up bearing fruit, is it good to see Robbie signing with the Dark Side?

Opening my arms to your enlightened analysis...

Happy New Year!

Take what you can get. A PT contract for a season, or be unemployed for next season? I know which one I would take, even if you have to sell your soul to the devil.

Yep, dark side/schmark side. At this stage of the season, beggers can't be choosers, and Robbie gets one last lap at the top grade. And hopefully lets out some frustration in the TdU sprints.

I was a bit surprised to see JB quoted saying he hopes Robbie can share his experience with the younger members, Im not too familiar with RS's younger team members, but I didn't think there were too many sprinters - which presumably would be where Robbie could add some mentor value. Maybe his Belgian experience? Get them all back on RockShox.

this is news and doping related? Clean. Move it to Pro. Otherwise, unleash the dogs.

Jun 9, 2009 ... After earlier reports of Team Katusha's new anti-doping contract clause being refused by Robbie McEwen and two other teammates, ...

though,

"I fully support the principles behind the anti-doping stance of my team and when the issues concerning the details of the addendum are clarified, I will add my weight to the Katusha Team campaign."

P.S. I'm sure it has been covered, Link?

JMB, just reiterating your skepticism.

Milking the System, for another year... i.e. is he even pertinent or competitive outside the margin?

Ah, the monitored and crafted responses of the pros nowadays...

Mind you, if you were in his shoes, what can you do? The fading days of a briefly blindingly bright career, the Manx dropping you like a rock, Thor too versatile to beat (and now with that confounded rainbow jersey!), and the glory days of the Robbie vs. Zable battle long gone...

Why not throw it all to the wind and say 'f*ck it'? Apparently the top tier have free reign within the UCI testing protocol, and you've been privy to that for your whole career, why not?

I'd say 'Jack me up, Johann! Gimme the goods, and a little special for the finale!'. You say you have a few guys dedicated to the lead out? That'll do. One little Chinese brother with no fear doing 60km/h is all I need...

Bring it on! I've only got a little time left...

Your cheques are still good, right?
