it strikes me as pretty amazing and a testament to modern technology that when both Specialized and Trek developed a new 'super' bike, they both won the first race they entered, the Venge won San Remo and Trek gave Spartacus their new development bike for Strade Bianche

I'm surprised to see Shimano shifters on Cancellara's bike and not Sram, anybody know the story behind that? I initially thought it was because he was using electronic shifting but that's not the case.

Shimano 'cos they sponsor the team as they did last year - it is still leopard, the company, who owns the team.

Unless the the manufacturers can prove that the bike is actually winning the races for the rider, and the UCI creates a manufacturers competition like in motorsport, Fabian, Mark and everybody else who comes across the line fist has nothing to do with what the decal on the down tube says. Do you believe in Unicorns as well?

Yeah truly amazing when the strongest guys win
ya, everybody expected Goss to win San Remo... lol
even if it is just coincidence (and knowing who to give the bike to for that first race) it still is an impressive statistic, and it certainly won't hurt sales

Dont believe the hype. just because they called them 'super' bikes doesn't make it so!

Where is the venge now and how many races has it won this year? this so called 'super' bike!

Thanks. I wasn't sure since Radioshack was a big part of that merger and they were Sram, with his highness, the one the team was built around, as an investor.

As for the OP, I think it has more to do with their water bottles. It's a new revolutionary shape. Wind slicers extraordinaire. :D

He was a protected rider and since they didn't have enough Venge's for the team and they gave him one I would suggest the guys at Highroad we pretty confident he would be part of the mix. they went in with Him and Cav
in the same way you would use Farrar and Hausler. Make no mistake Goss has huge respect in the peloton and his has since his Giro breakthrough, every one in that group of 5-6 last year know he would win if he was there at the end and the they all tried to shake him

Looks like thinner seat stays on the Madone with more curve in them (trying to soften the ride?). Fork blades are curved and much thinner too.

Also see all cables run into the head tube now.

And Spartacus is using mechanical DA too (his choice?).

This pic (http://www.ciclonline.com/eng/photo...one-2013/detail/1210-trek-madone-2013-16.html) is pretty funky. There's some sort of strange junction between the top tube, seat stays and seat tube.

Put some yellow and red on that bike and you still have an ugly bicycle in the foreground of a photo of the ultimate machine.

And an ugly bicycle fitted with some decidedly dodgy components ref Zipp/SRAM. Now that frame might be worth the 40 watts/hr that Tommeke boasts but I wouldn't choose to put those components on MY 'ultimate machine' even if there was some yellow and red tape on it. I would hazard a guess that most Belgians wouldn't either.

Big congrats to the (stock?) Scott CR1 Pro for winning MSR today, and not to mention Gerrans for steering her to the line. :D

I would no doubt ride this bike

However, as I have said before, it look like it is humping a leg

Yep, it's a Foil. I think it's a stock frame too, nothing special about it.

Gerro is about 5'6" and would be about 60kg, so nothing special would be needed. My wife calls him the squawky (with affection)
