I was thinking the same. Jakob Fuglsang = Geraint Thomas. Almost the same rider.

He has the talent to do it, if he'd focus on the cobbled classics, put on some mass and focus on his TT skills/raw power like he did in 2011 he could reinvent himself as a classics rider.
Winning races would be very hard for him, his sprinting skills aren't good enough, he'd have to arrive solo, but top 10 results in the cobbled classics wouldn't be impossible.

Which most likely won't happen. Fuglsang has told Danish media he will be co-captain at least in TdF (with Lopez), so he will most likely focus on that. That doesn't rule classics out, but it will probably be Ardennes and maybe a random Flanders like this year.

All that after he and his coach were talking about focusing on classics and 1 week races after his stellar performance in Rio. TdF-leadership is just too big - the potential money and the media attention, the whole circus. I like Fuglsang, he is a nice fella, classy and always down to earth, but I can't see him achieve anymore than just a top-10 in TdF. I wish it wasn't so, but the Giro told us everything we needed to know. Just doesnt have it.

Yes, it's too bad, but I kinda understand him, it's probably his last chance when it comes to being a team leader and riding for the gc at the Tour for a big team, so he wants to try his luck.

I wouldn't say that, I think they are very different riders with different skillsets, but I agree that Fugslang is good on cobbles
