Sunday, bloody Sunday. What a great song, it really encapsulates the frustrations of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!"

I have not a clear opinion but it doens´t seem to be a bad option. If they don´t change the the spirit of the races ( making them shorter or easier as it happens with grand tours)I think that this is not an important thing.

Flanders, Roubaix, LBL, are already on Sunday; so now, all monuments on a Sunday.

Cancellara full of **** again, complaining he now has four free days between Tirreno and MSR. The guys coming from Paris-Nice now have six days, Cancellara forgets this.

Well, now we might see hardly any, if any, double starters at MSR and Catalunya at all, as Catalunya starts on Monday, the day after San Remo. (In 2012, Cunego, Bruseghin, Txurruka and Francesco Gavazzi were double starters).

Surprised no one mentioned this yet.

RCS are planning a new(or already existing) race to be held in between TA and MSR.

Acquarone explained his decision in his CN blog.

Is it a good idea for you?

i already posted this on the general news thread at 10 am today so i win :p

anyway monuments and sundays is a great combination, nothing to complain here. it will certainly have more viewers then it had on saturday afternoons imo.

I can't see why this would make any significant difference.

I normally race on Saturday afternoons from March onwards so moving San Remo to the Sunday is a great improvement for me.

It won't. It will keep all the classics on the same day, so that's good.

Same for me in the month of April.

Moving the big classic races to Sunday makes a difference to me at least, in a good way. Now I won't be late to my group rides on Saturday because the coverage/race overshoot my ride start time. :D

Sunday rides are more chill and start time is less of an issue, most of the time, at least for me.

Overall a plus for the big races being Sunday races.

So most of the guys on your group rides don't watch the Italian classics ?

Yea, I know its hard to even talk pro cycling in my parts not many die hard fans that don't just involve Tour or the current winner, its as if there is only one cyclist/race possible in their minds. There are a few who usually convene with me mid ride to discuss the earlier race action or at the coffee stop but definitely not enough as I would or anyone would assume would be in the know on the pro races.

Makes no difference to me and its doubtful if the change will bring more fans to the TV.

More local activities around the races are always a good thing.

The MSR move does open up an opportunity to slot in a race mid week, but quantity of races is not the main problem when it comes to pro cycling.

"You ever been to Ireland, Alan?"

"No, no. I’d love to go."

"It amazes me when people say that and it’s only forty-nine quid on a plane."

"Yeah, I think that’s what puts me off."

This is bad, for the sole reason that Sunday afternoon in Europe is late Sunday night in Australia. I don't want to have to go to work/uni tired on Monday morning.

The sacrifices we, well you'll have to make. We all still have to work in the GT's to that schedule.

GT's work out really well, though. The Tour is typically on between 10 pm and 1:30 am, so there's good time for a 5 or 6 hour sleep, plus I'm on uni holidays in July and the only thing I have to worry about is work.

OK a thread about Milan-Sanremo and already discussing on GT's ...

If anyone is interested in Milan-Sanremo, is it possible that the switch to Sunday favours the Via Roma come-back?

After all merchants are not working on Sundays.

It could be, but RCS have already stated that, for the 2013 edition, the route won't change.
Maybe in the next years.
