Myth: Pfeiffer's / Filatov's disease can be cured by Russian docs

http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Pfeiffer's+disease

I've come across more than once, vague 2nd and 3rd hand accounts that Russian trainers/athletes don't understand why Westerners regularly deal with this for half a year or longer. They have docs that patch you up in a matter of weeks. It's seems to be a bit "unofficial", so I have to presume it doesn't really jive with WADA code or even Russian medical practices. Perhaps relatively bad odds to survive the treatment, or extremely controversial (such as full blood refills, whatever).
Word is, Russians aren't prepared to be out of the running for that long, they have a job to do.

I'm not as much interested in the doping reg part of this, but the medical. A friend of mine just went through a lengthy Pfeiffer's experience.

Does anyone know "how they do it"?

Or the other way around, any known top level Russian/Eastern European athletes that were out with Pfeiffer's? Or Asians, for that matter? Western medical science seems to be a bit behind the curve with some things, and this might be one with a great impact to those affected.

Thanks,
J

Mon is nothing new. It usually resolves itself in a fairly reasonably amount of time, a few months typically.

What is your source that you say "word on the street" is based off?
