Ok guys, you know we placed a call for new mods a while back, and today we are happy and pleased to announce the new arrivals: it's a boy.... and a boy... and a...

The 6 new mods starting today are:

Ferminal - Australia
Jaylew - Texas
JPM London - UK
Palmerq - UK
Pedaling Squares - Western Canada
Red Flanders - Western US

I'll leave them space to introduce themselves in this thread, but I do want to pass on a public warm welcome, and thank you for volunteering, on behalf of all the current mods.

We were delighted with the enthusiastic and quality responses to our call for volunteers. We had to disappoint many more applicants than we had seats.

Volunteering is much appreciated, especially by those who know how thankless this job can be at times. If we haven't got them out already, you will get our private thank you soon too. This was meant to happen on Monday, so we could let all of you know before it was going public, but it seems the powers that be figured we could do with the extra hands sooner rather than later.

A genuine thank you to all that applied, and who made our job of filling the new seats so much harder. If there is a new call for mods, do not hesitate to apply again.

Speaking out of experience, it will probably take a little while for the new mods to settle in their new roles. It would be appreciated if forum members could help them out and give them some space to do that.

Oh and -cough cough-... forum sharks.... "Fresh Food" this way ----->

To bad, I was really looking forward to the man called 'ANIMAL' as a moderator, he could really let the bad boys know what time it is!

welcome!

i don't know all of you, but the few i do i quite enjoy. i hope you'll get used to your role as mods and continue to contribute.

cheers!

Thats good.

Ferminal Peddaling squares and Jaylew are the best posters 1000 + posters here. Ive never had a dispute with any of them and all 3 have been good to to me in the past. The first 2 have even defended me against others. I remember those who are good to me.

JPM London ive been in agreement with plenty of times.

Palmerq i dont really know, but was right on the toure thread today and his post history checks out so good to have a Brit here.

Ive never crossed paths with Red Flanders really.

I dont know why you all took on the jobs though. Look what it did to Francois. Great essays analysing the situation on various threads, now hes reduced to trying to demonstrate his brilliance in PM's.

Expect more time in the clinic, suckers:D

all that is needed is moderators who can be absolutely free of opinions and subjectively look at peoples accumulative posts. me i state my thoughts and feelings i do not troll ever(i actually race and have a life)my thoughts are just that my views regarding cycling and what goes on in my eyes regarding individual riders. recently i received 2 infractions which never happened before since 2009 or so and i felt it was somewhat based on my views this is not acceptable on a true fee forum. i feel moderators need to be very open or put simply freedom of speech is not upheld. my thoughts for what it is worth

Congratulations, i hope you all "enjoy" (as far as you can enjoy moderation) your time as Mods, and i hope i don't incur your wrath! :p

Good to see some more Mods onboard to be honest, this place did need a few more

Yeah well, I recently got 2 points as well and I almost never agree with a single god damn thing that you post. Maybe it's not the message but the delivery?

With regard to the new mods, welcome aboard, you all suck, please don't ban me.:D

All good choices. Ferminal is probably the best Aussie poster on here IMO (ok that probably sounds a bit creepy...).

welcome to you new mods! I am pretty familiar with most of you....I enjoy Ferminal's stuff and Red Flanders I think you're a female--which we can always use more of around here. ;)

I read a lot and don't always post a ton, but enjoy almost everyone's posts on the forum---a few not so much.
good luck and cheers,
mew

What, in your opinion, ACF, would solve the real problems? You led the call to arms for new moderators, and now you have no fewer than six of them, and your first reaction is to roll your eyes and say it will be ineffective?

What WILL be effective?

Make ACF a mod ;)

But yeah, we have more help for Martin in our timezone, more North American based mods to help guys like Alp and RDV out, and more Euro based mods.

I wouldn´t worry too much about what ACF says...I mean, I don´t worry about it. I highly doubt you´ll receive input.

Except for the Moderator thread.

He´s the OP for that thread...and that was to whinge over an infraction that he received for hijacking (a charge he admits to), to which if I recall was never resolved in his favor, so it went on and on, until it morphed into an actual useful thread for one to seek clarification on moderation. So I guess he gets credit for that I guess  (pun intended)

But hey, no worries. The call was answered for new mods, the choices are sound, and I wish all the new mods luck in this endeavor.

Cheers.

Great volunteering/selection! :) One thing I would like to say though is that all of you have been interesting and insightful posters to date, so I hope that you'll be able to continue doing that in the same manner, in addition to your new responsibilities.

I don't know what led you to think that, but I'm whatever you want me to be. :)

Could be because Flanders isnt far from Denmark and there is a poster here called "Redhead Dane" with a yellow avatar as well.
not that close, really...

the funny thing, red_flanders, is that i actually am a redheaded female living in Flanders :p

(just not been around long enough to be confused with anybody)

Well they are quite close together. Both peaceful flat barren northern european places. Especially if your outside europe.

what is the reason behind the name "13" btw?
