New shoes are on the loose side

Hello,

I bought new road shoes - Gaerne G Chrono. I tried them on a ride yesterday but they are a bit loose. The problem is that one size down is already too small. Is there a way to improve this situation? Insoles would help? Other ideas?

Thanks!

E-soles might help. http://www.esoles.com

Insoles that take up a bit more volume can help. I'm guessing the smaller-sized ones were too short? If it was just volume, consider that they ease out a little bit with use (not much though, unless they are genuine leather - which they usually aren't).

Try another brand? Keep in mind that bike shoes should fit tighter than running shoes, of course.

I like my bike shoes quite tight - "if I can get them on, they're not too small".

Didja get them from a LBS?
Go back and talk to them.

No... Bike24

I think I'll just return them.

Thanks for your answers.

Have you tried them with thicker socks? Not an ideal solution if it's hot, but it might work.

Just had this discussion this morning in the group.

seem a lot of shoes now have less lateral support in the material. especially when they break in a bit. My Giros loosened up quite a bit and I am swimming in the forefoot. it sucks because it feels like I am pushing out and adding more pressure to the outside of my foot rather than even pressure throughout.

soles are stiff but..
