couldn't many of those be metabolites of only two or three steriods?

Hopefully the three year ban ends his cycling career for good.
He's still young, he can find another career.

Yes, all of those with 'stanozolol' in their name are metabolites and seem to be standard markers for detection in doping tests. Similarly the two metabolites of methandienone. And prednisolone is the active metabolite of prednisone. And epi-oxandrolone is a product of oxandrolone (for giggles check out the first sentence of this abstract ).

That still leaves tuaminoheptane, methylhexanamine and triamcinolone. Good to see this guy was covering all bases...

"I had a very freightening coughing attack, could hardly get any air. I borrowed one bystander's inhaler after the other, and after double doses of maybe 4 or 5 different ones, I started to get control back over my lungs. It was a one-time freak allergic reaction of some kind I thought, and didn't even recollect it when the next day I had to pee into a cup. I suppose I should have told the testers that inhalers saved my life the day before."

This is novel in that this case was a true positive.

He was a cat 3 rider? I actually feel sorry for this guy.... If he wants it that bad (or if he really needed an inhaler and ended up with a bunch of "extra" crap in his system.) Its ruined his reputation for the rest of his life in cycling.

If he started at 3.8 watts per kilo for an hour, and dope the highest he'll see is 4.4 w/kg or so. Wonder if he even owns a power meter.....or has ever read anything decent about training....

Lower end riders and even some pros for that matter will benefit more from using power & training/racing correctly than from doping.

You can gain about 12% more sustainable watts from training correctly in a single season with a power meter from an out of shape state.

And anyways....how come nobody ever complains about carbon wheels ($2,000), carbon bikes ($3,000), power meters ($600+). Those are all performance enhancing things that many people simply cant afford.

Who's going to win the race?

Rider A) who owns an SRM, a carbon bike with carbon wheels & uses the $110 WKO training peaks software, AND spends $300 a month on coaching.....

Or rider B) who has an aluminum bike thats 2 pounds heavier, is less aerodynamic, who doesn't have a power meter, who has no coach.

Rider B is screwed!!!!
