For those of you who don't feel like trying to understand that link, it just says (it's been a strong rumour so I trust it) that the stages to:
Rocca Di Cambio (stage 7)
Lago Laceno (stage 8)
Cervinia (stage 14)
Piani Resinelli (stage 15)
Alpe Di Pampeago (stage 19)
Stelvio (stage 10)
will NOT have time bonuses.

Yes, it makes perfect sense to have time bonuses on the sprint stages and not in the mountains. After all, Cav will really need all the bonus seconds he can get, before he abandons the race in week 2...

I was just about to type the same. It's not like your Rujanos and Nibali's will be fighting your Cav's for the bonus seconds.

lame, i think that almost every stage race should have time bonusses, as it adds an extra dimension to the race. It stimulates GC riders to fight for stage wins in stages that normaly don't have time differences

Oh, sorry :(
Anyway, about the Cav vs gc guys thing, time bonuses could still be important in stages 6,12 and above all 17.

No time bonus = lame attack free riding.

Time bonuses given a massive advantage to climbers who can sprint. A stage victory is its own rewards, GC should go to the rider who rides the course in the shortest time. Just look at last years Vuelta

It was not a MTF.

Well he sort of attacked nibali at Zoncolan and stage 7 in 2012 giro is not a MTF, so they would have probably removed time bonuses for that stage too

stage 7 is a MTF... a joke, I agree, but it is a MTF. Stage 8 shouldn't have been considered a MTF, but it's not comparable to last year's Tropea stage. Stage 16 is comparable (it's harded though), and it is not considered MTF.
edit: plz don't tell me Contador attacked on Zonc for those 4 bonus seconds
