New Posting Guidelines - 30/01/2012

Over some time, and in particular the last few days, this thread has become unreadable. As has been expressed many times previously, this thread is useless if the entire "discussion" focuses on a minor detail, or something not even relevant to Lance Armstrong. From this point on, the guidelines for posting in this thread will be stricter, and enforced without hesitation.

It is not necessary to post in this thread if you can't discuss the actual topic. The topic is Lance Armstrong and the events which he is linked to. This is all that matters, if you're unable to add something new, or debate points related to this core topic, don't post. It is Lance Armstrong who is the centerpiece of this thread, not the posters who are involved here. No one is interested in your opinion of another poster, what their motivations for posting here may be, or whether or not anyone should listen to what they have to say. These matters are for a private place, and aren't even relevant to this forum, let alone this thread.

Do not post in this thread if your argument centers on "you are a fanboy" or "you guys are haters" or "you work for Livestrong" or "you have an obsession". If you want to post along these lines, do so elsewhere, as it will no longer be tolerated here. No one who wants to read discussions about Lance Armstrong is interested in such topics.

Non-compliance will result in suspensions, brief to begin with, but repeat offenders will face extended periods on the sidelines. There will be no warnings, this is the final warning to anyone posting in this thread, new or old. I will update the first post with this information and it is your responsibility to understand what is acceptable. If you're unsure if your post is relevant, it is probably wise to hold back, or ask a moderator.

Every poster is also responsible for ensuring they are not drawn into these unwanted discussions. As I've said before, it is a lot more difficult to maintain a thread if everyone involved is responsible for its erosion. There will be no "they started it", there will be penalties for anyone who breaches these guidelines, even if they are replying to an offending post.

As usual, please do not respond in this thread to these new guidelines.

If you have stumbled upon...

-an interesting link for news/opinions/videos/blog-posts about Lance Armstriong
OR
-a comment by the good man himself that doesn't really add anything new to the overall picture

...and you want to share it with the Clinic, this is the place to do it.

However. if it triggers a genuinely mayor new development - use your head - it might be appropriate to start a new thread. In doubt, then it goes here for sure.

This should become the place to check for new snippets in the vast majority of cases. Bitst hat might interest some, but are swamping the Clinic if each would get a new thread.

If it is a topic you want to discuss, rather than a news story or opinion piece by an insider/reporter/blogger/etc, do a search first. The chances that there is an existing thread that covers the topic close enough are huge. If it exists, use that thread.

Don't hesitate to start a new thread if the post merits it. But think before you post, please.

At some point, someone needs to ask LA and his idiot circle, "Wow, how do you guys account for having the worst possible judge of character when so many ex-employees, teammates, friends and associates turn against you? Did you just happen to align yourselves with so many pathological liars? How could that be?"

This story should really have an impact on some of the uninformed. I think a lot of VN readers might suddenly sit up and take notice if they haven't already.

Mike, I have a good feeling that you're going to get the last word on this one.
Here's to ya' ;)

If you're Satan, does that mean Lance is God? ;)

Nice PR adjustment to the avatar.

Respect and admiration for your integrity and dedication to seeing this through with no personal benefit.

You will be vindicated, most would fold under the pressure and cower.

Kudos for courage - You and Betsy, deserve the forthcoming peace of mind and the rewards of selfless honesty supported by inspirational principles and values.

Model Citizens. Thanks for the reminder of right action.

Giant finally wakes up and smells the coffee

Tom Humphries, a hugely talented Sports Journalist at the Irish Times;

Giant finally wakes up and smells the coffee

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...288604054.html

alternatively search on the irishtimes.com website the following phrase "Giant finally wakes up and smells the coffee"...

it is a comment piece about the SI article.

Interesting they didn't get their cycling correspondent Johnny Waterson to write it, maybe he refused as he knows Daragh McQuaid.

Birds of a Feather

http://fraudbytes.blogspot.com/2011/02/lance-armstrong-investigation-doping.html

As I’ve read and listened to the press conferences regarding Floyd Landis's accusations along with the denials, the blogs, and other commentary on Lance Armstrong's involvement in doping, I decided I wanted to take a little different slant and provide a few other things to think about. First, these facts should be read in the following context:

"For me, the younger generation is much more exciting and much more inspiring!
And with great hope, I believe they are clean."

Good luck ! I am inspired too.
When does this new, clean generation appear ?
On which planet ?
Are they still on the Galactica looking for a new planet ?
Are they human ?

But anyway, chapeau, that you finally found out that Lance was not clean.

apparently, and ive yet to find a reliable source for this beyond twitter, but

"New head of AFLD, French anti-doping agency, says US authorities have asked for Armstrong's 1999 urine samples."

edit: apparently the full story will be in Le Monde tommorow.

Someone needs to mail the author.

Benoit Joachim was busted for nandrolone. His federation let him off with the ridiculous excuse that too much time had passed between the A and B sample testing.

Kevin Livingston showed up in Dr. Ferrari's files.

Vande Velde did not just ride for Bruyneel. He also rode for Riis at CSC and Saiz at Liberty Seguros. The only doper's paradise that he managed to miss was T-Mobile. That is an incredible string of bad luck for such a "clean" rider.

Nice work compiling this (or linking to this I guess). It will be useful to link to as a reference. All in one place it provides a compelling argument for a casual fan who might not know about all these other cases.

Mark Zimbelman is an accounting professor at BYU (specializing in fraud). He's also an accomplished masters racer. Anytime you find something that's "archive-worthy" please, send it to him.

He avoided Saunier Duval as well to be fair.

VdV is a complex case.

We have it on good authority that he was singled out at USPS to be excluded from the club.

Don't know if this was true of his entire USPS experience, or just temporary. Also don't know what happened on other teams.

Dave.

It's briefly mentioned here.

(Hopefully link worked this time!)

Strange. The Le Monde article linked is dated February 22 but states that complete article is posted in Le Monde paper dated January 24.
