Maybe they were asked to explain why they missed the tests.

And why they ate contaminated beef, sort of.

Ha! Good on him! He was the first to pull open his ugly mouth when Alberto tested positive and spout lots of nonsense out of it.

You bring up an interesting point. Maybe the omerta breaking style of Offredo isn't to the liking of the cycling gods.

Then again, that someone who is outspoken against dopers thumbs his nose at the anti-doping regulations by allowing 3 strikes isn't really serious.

According to JV Offredo is not a doper!

But who believes what JV says anyway, apart from cycling media and they believe the Riis's and Bruyneels so big deal there!

I dont think this type of comment furthers the discussion, it is childish.

Good defence. Right out of the 'he hit me first' book. Listen, I find your love for Contador endearing, but showing a lack of class by insulting everyone is something that I'm pretty sure no one else on this forum is interested in seeing. I wonder if you could try to show a bit of restraint sometime, or at least try to be positive about Contador's eventual return and dominance instead of taking every opportunity to hate on everyone for the (usually unrelated) fact that Contador got suspended. It's frustrating as a general cycling fan to have every thread turn into being about him, or you.

Anyway, with regards to Offredo, I actually agree with what Vaughters said that it should be a 6 month suspension from the date of the last missed test. A solid slap on the wrist is entirely appropriate for what seems like a simple paperwork failure.

If you have such a problem with me, just put me on ignore. I won't care. This is how I am and I can't change it. I just like to ***** on people. And I'm not going to be positive about Alberto's return, because I can't see what's positive about it. That's me, a pessimistic *****. I understand that some may not like it.

And about the restraint bit, you don't want to know how much I'm restraining already.

You just need to understand how fvcking frustrating this all is, especially when there are so many people smugly declaring how great it is that Alberto got banned and how the dirty fvcker deserved it and how he should never return to racing because he's a liar, a cheat and he even steals wins from the "clean" guys. It makes me want to scream.

This thread isn't about Contador, but even if I have nothing against him (except that distasteful bang bang thing) I have no doubt he is a doper, the fact he got cought only serves to reinforce this.

Hero worship is a dangerous thing in the world of cycling. You can rant all you want, that won't change the fact that Contador is just another doper that got caught. Not the first, and certainly not the last.

That's your opinion.

Hey, cycling is in the state it is. Your stubborn denial won't change anything.

And its the same in all sports btw.

Seriously, it's time for you to wake up. Read about Festina, Puerto, Sinkewitz/Telekom, Kelme/Manzano, Jaksche and US Postal/Landis for a start. That should give you a solid base to understand what kind of sport you're watching.

I have not been reading the news much lately, but I have read elsewhere that on the day of one of his 3 "misses" Offredo was actually racing a UCI sanctioned event. Funny that UCI officials couldn't locate him that day : even if he did make a mistake on "geolocation" they should have figured out where he was. ( A bit like the other FFC officials unable to locate the house of Jeannie Longo's father in St Gervais where everybody knows them)

No no, I don't have that much of a problem with you, I was just trying to be reasonable. I'll definitely put you on ignore if it really bugs me, but I thought I'd try talking to you first. And I don't want to be totally negative either - I really like your posting style and enthusiasm, I just don't like you hijacking threads to be about things that they should have nothing to do with. I think it's selfish and inconsiderate. But if you say you can't change it, then fine, at least we understand each other. I will continue to not like it, and I will like other things about your posts, and will move on. I just figured I was probably speaking for a number of people, so it might be good to communicate that to you if you cared what people think about you here. But evidently you don't, so that's fine. I will not mention it again, other than possibly the occasional 'roll eyes' smiley.

So do you think that the localisation program in the wrong hands could be less than objective as I suggest in the first part of my post?

I didn't bother to research the details of Offredo's 3 strikes, but you would think that if he had 2 strikes already that he and his team management should be able to manage the system enough to avoid a third. Maybe I am wrong on that though.

One major difference between Offredo and Longo is that Offredo's wife/girlfriend (if he has one) wasn't caught making multiple PED purchases over a period of years.

There in lies another problem with the system and how the sport is run. If the UCI dont have a policy to cover these type of situations where a rider is racing in a sanctioned (anti doping) event which would nullify his missed test, as long as he is tested at the event, which cannot be difficult to organise in these days of mobile phone technology and easy communication.

I bet UCI would've let a top star rider off a missed test if they were racing.

I dont think Offredo should have been banned due to this missed test because of a race, as he only should have 2 missed tests.

However I do think that the missed tests is not taken seriously enough by riders and their teams.

This would of course imply that the bureaucrats in charge actually think about what they do. But they're bureaucrats...
