Oleg Tinkov's Obama Tweet

I read an article on Velonews concerning a Tweet by Oleg Tinkov where he referred to President Obama as "monkeyobama". I already have a strong dislike for Tinkov, but this kind of talk should have no place in professional cycling. After the long, ugly struggle with race in the United States having an African American president is a big deal. Racist comments like the one made by Tinkov are a spit in the face to history and all of the people who struggled and sacrificed for the progress that has been made on civil rights in the U.S.

What should the response be from the UCI and should a penalty be issued?

It should be, I don't think it can be. But don't punish the team, punish him. Ban him from races for a while, or encourage organisations like ASO, RCS and unipublic to do so. Should this belong in this thread?

Besides I really dislike Obama (I mean who is not disgusted by this liar)... Olga again went too far. As usual. She must be thrown out of cycling. She is a shame... More than any past and present dopers...

As much as cycling needs sponsors, the sport would be better off without Oleg. Disgusting quote.

Absolutely. Too bad some fans (even here in the RR thread) still think cycling needs him. They couldn´t be more wrong.
If Olga goes, the next team in line steps up to WT level. They come and go...

If cyclists don't want to ride for Tinkov they don't have to.

Except some of his team have a multi year contract from the Riis years (Contador for one).

Well a majority of the US voters for starters.

Far from the truth. I read 50% of registered voters did elect a presidential candidat. Just above 50% of those voted for Obama (the reasons they fell a 2nd time for him is wayyy beyond me). That is circa 25% of the voters. A majority would be 50+ %...

OK, back to Olga: All this doesn´t make his tweet in any way better...

Ban him from the races, and all TS riders will thank you.

When idiots " they are" say stuff like this they then try and explain it away using every excuse their PR can think of to make things better. An apology does not make it right.

I liked Tinko's stir things up attitude but that's shown a whole new side to him that now makes me dislike him.

You're not very familiar with our alternatives over here, are you?

I am :) ... You have none. That´s why only 50% go to elections. I would have liked to discuss matters in the US thread. But as you know, I am done there. A no go area for me.

LMAO. His post was better than my all-time classic "What is ROY, return of investment?".

Ok, thanks for letting me know. How you knew I last looked in June? ;)

Back to Olga again: MrHender is right. She was even worse before, but only now pipo realize fully what a a...hole Olga really is...
