Dear Patrick Fletcher,
In your article from 13 January 2016 published on the CN website (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/brailsford-calls-on-cookson-to-implement-data-release-system/), you state "Froome then took the extra step of subjecting himself to independent physiological testing after the race".
However, it is highly doubtful that the testing you refer to, which Mr. Chris Froome underwent in August 2015, was independent.
In an earlier piece by your colleague Daniel Benson, published on the CN website on 17 July 2015 (http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/will-independent-testing-work-for-chris-froome/), a rather uncontroversial definition is given of what independent testing on Chris Froome should look like: it should concern testing by "an independent tester or testing body with no links to Team Sky, British Cycling or a national federation."
Now, to my knowledge, none of the testers present at the testing Chris Froome underwent in August 2015 meets that (rather uncontroversial) criterion.
Those who cherish both proper journalism and a correct future application of the concept of "independent testing", would be grateful if you could either correct it (e.g. by removing the adjective "independent") or state more explicitly why you think it was independent.
With kind regards,
