colombia today won the team pursuit in 3:59:21 with not even their strongest line-up. missing suarez and avila came back few weeks ago from broken bone injury so was not in topshape. looks very promising :)

even more promising where the chileans, who were actually faster after halfway after accelaring in 2nd kilometre but crashed :(

new track in guadalajara, very good track. also the venezuelan sprint team won gold medal in a time of 43.188! only 0.2 behind world record of gbr. very young team too

Also, does anybody know what kind of bikes the Colombians use? They just seem so cool.

I've been looking for pictures of the Mexican national team. If anybody can link me up to some, that'd be great.

1550 metres I believe. but still good times

Agree, that Team Sprint time especially.

Does anyone know what effect the altitude plays? La Paz where Tournant broke the Kilo record was worth about 2-2.5s and that is 3500m.

above 2500 metres it really counts. below is somewhat hard to say I think. it's defginetely a difference. I think it;'s also just a very good track and has a roof which is very rare in latin america

I think it is fairly easy to say the altitude has made a difference in this case.
I don't think Venezuela have become world beaters overnight.Check out the results on TissoT timing in recent World Cups /Champs for "normal" positions relatively speaking.Venezuela were usually 14th/15th/16th between 1.5 and 2.5 seconds off the pace, so they have gained a HUGE advantage from somewhere. It must be a thrill for the sprinters to go so much faster than usual though.

pulgar thoutgh was 3rd world champiionship juniors though and it's not fair to compare with that as they have been in full prepration for past year for pan american games. is like olympics for them. we will see next year. I don't belueve they will be gold medal contenders but I think have definitely set a step

In the few pics I've seen, they ride old BTs...
