ooops.

First cross race of the season on sunday, which I didnt think i was going to be able to do as we have no transport but the in laws have offered us a lift.

Um.. not been out on the bike for a week cos the weather has been deathly.. Before that did 6 days solid, following a 5 day break after ten days solid.

So i need a 3 day training/diet plan

Any suggestions.

How long is the race?

3 days out...not much you can do now, keep the legs spinning, reduce volume but maintain intensity of training sessions. Make sure you are well rested before Sunday.

Good sleeps, stay well hydrated (like start this now) - I know nothing of you, your past racing history or current diet etc - so hard to advise.
Stick to what has worked in the past, don't try anything new or different in the lead up to, or on the Race Day.
Plenty of fruits, veges, and "Real Food" - most of your calories should be coming from good quality carbs.

All the best for the first race of the season!;)

racing history.. um.. did a few road races and time trials between 1987 and 1993 :D

fortunately its only an hour, writing it off as a training session and see what happens :D

well then...

I kinda get the feeling you don't need any advice re - training or nutrition then;)

Enjoy the hit-out!

I can give you some stuff that will make you ride like you got an engine.....but you will not be able to sleep for 5 days and you might grow a tail.

See it was going perfectly well. Did some nice solid training all the way through august and september, mixing decent runs with a bit of interval work, whilst keeping the workload fairly light..

then came october and its all gone a bit wrong..

The plan..
5 days on the bike
3 day break
7 days on the bike
3 day break
five days on the bike
2 days rest
race

what actually happened was...
ten days on the bike
five day break
five days on the bike
two-three days break
then i was meant to get back on the bike saturday, but erm...

its bloody cold up north, after 25 years leaving in the lovely warm south im a bit confused to find there is a zero on the thermometer.. so the three day break has turned into a 8 day break.

Further confused by the fact that i didnt think i was racing this weekend after all but turns out we have a lift so i can.
Further confused by the fact I thought it was tuesday so at least i could do some riding wed, thur and fri, take saturday off and wing it.

its not, its wednesday apparently. :D

I think the plan is, ride tommorow and friday and try and work out just how cold it is. Friday to a trial hour with a flat out ten minute start and then intervals. Eat sensibly, pack in some carbs, and hope for the best.

This is all further compounded by the fact I start on new meds tommorow which "may cause drowsiness".. trouble is, if i dont take them I dont sleep, which DOES cause drowsiness.. You really couldnt make it up

its my first race in twenty years so the plan is a) to finish b) try and finish in front of one person :D

got my blood tests friday so the doctor may well sort me out, but we wont have the results till the middle of next week sadly. Besides, i havnt slept properly for five months and I think i already have one.

This needs a poll :D
