If the Contador myth proves to be true, is it time for Pat McQuaid to offer his resignation? I respect the man but perhaps this calls for new blood.

Fatty McQuack is one of the more vilified people in the sport. This thread would be a good place to compile the evidence, be it fact or unsubstantiated allegation, that suggests that Pat is not the honest and independent figure his position demands.

McQuaid should have been out the door years ago, in fact he never should've had the job in the first place. The problem isn't just him, though, the whole organisation is rotten from top to bottom.

Agreed.
Also, McQuaid should resign regardless of how this Contador thing ends. Then again, maybe it's better if he doesn't. Only a violent revolution will clean up the UCI.

+1. McQuaid is a product of the UCI, not the other way around. The entirety of the UCI in its current guise should go.

+1000
the position is simply "inherited" from one corrupted politician to the next one coming up.... so Pat is currently unchallenged to be removed, nor he will be in years to come, until he gets to retire.....

The last Quack Pat made should be just after *ucking the question one more and hopefully, last time, he always manages to Duck the answer. If you knew anything about the make up of crooked Irish men, you would know him to be photo fitgenic, there are many honest Irish men, none have power anywhere.
They tend to be bankrupted by the others.

Yes, yes, yes!
He should definitely resign if it all proves to be false.
But if Contador is indeed guilty, he should resign nonetheless.
The UCI and Pat should both go, and be replaced by a better body and a better president / face.

Everyone else just knows the meaning of the word "irony". You should google it. The "new blood" comment was just a bad joke.

A good example of irony would be a cycling team owner / DS who owes everything he has as a professional to the fact he was a successful doper who was never caught, and then he looses it all because of another doper who does get caught. Sound familiar?

Paddy McQuaid is Hein V's hand picked stooge, pathetic, but not yet ironic.

He should resign either way so that someone who actually cares about fighting doping gets elected.

How about Roger Legeay? How would that work?

My hope is WADA will step in and bust Contador for plasticizers, and the actions of the UCI in the case will be questioned leading to a potential over hall. Really what do the UCI do for us, not serious about doping just happy with the status quo, bad, the pro tour/world calendar, don't really want it, the world championships, ok that one is good.

Pat should resign either way, lest he should be found up Armstrong's buttocks

I agree with this. Of course he should resign, for this and a lot of other reasons. But he won't.

I think he will hold on no matter what. He clearly believes his own nonsense and he'll be next to impossible to shift barring him finding a better deal elsewhere.

Sure, but this poll is just our opinion. Fat Pat doesn't care what we think, does he? He's laughing at all of us.
