With ASO (et al), & other fronts eager to dislocate and undermine his authority, are we watching the beginning of the end of UCI as an all powerful institution; or, on the other hand, will the Pro-Tour squads be able to form a new league of their own, divorced from the olympic movement? I want those pundits to please answer scientifically, otherwise, remain oblivious to this thread

Scientifically? You mean backed up by data in an area which almost nothing but murky grey suspicion exists?

I don't think ASO are that keen to dislodge, they signed a new deal at the start of the ProTour which was quite good to them. Ultimately, I think WSC will hamper any attempts at reform. It's such a shoddy idea it almost feels like HTC leaving a break out in front all day and then catching it in the last 10km. It stops any other breakaways from forming, since it would split support. When it fails because it's a weird idea which won't appeal to the key revenue base - racing fans - its corpse will serve as a warning to any other potential breakaway leagues that this is what happens if you take the UCI on.

The UCI isn't that powerful. ASO has far more power. World Cycling Promotions was created by UCI officers (for their personal benefit, not the UCI) to counter ASO.

At this point, the UCI controls the feeder system into ASO's events on the road. Off road, track and cyclocross pretty much suffer along as feeder systems for the road. UCI has the IOC association and funding, but I think the ASO could wrestle that away if they wanted it.

I've changed my mind; Not a Pat's fan anymore

Those remarks about Johan were just uncivilized, uncalled for. He should have waited until the lance-USADA affair gets thru, instead of choosing sides. Pat Must step down!PERIOD.........And FEDOCI's chief should follow suit,
