Someone told me he will be riding Tour de France as a slave for Tony Martin. He will be riding Vuelta for GC.

Can anyone confirm this?

I think the roles will be reversed after one or two Pyrenees stages.

I hope so, because Peter is a much better GC bet than T.Martin.

Edited for confussion with Martin Velits lol

Velits finished 3rd at Vuelta. He's capable of Top 10.

No offence! but i think we all know what he's capable of, especially after watching the vuelta last year. I just don't see anything suggesting he has a proper build up for the tour, as a top 10 result would require.

I agree. If High Road still have a team next year, Velits should be the GC rider. He will do better than Tony Martin unless Martin improves his climbing. At this stage though, it is doubtful that the HR team will survive.

He should be more worried about being a slave for the sprinters.

If he's better than Tony Martin, all he has to do is show it on the first MTF. After Martin tanks 3 minutes, Velits assumes the leadership.

(Not saying Velits will be better, in fact I'm on the TM bandwagon...)

I want to see Tony climb well for one stage maybe upsurp Cancellara in the ITT and then fail spectaculary on a climb so they work for Peter. Could they maybe go for Green jersey and classification of teams?????

It would seriously surprise me if he will gets an top3 in a GT again, maybe 2-3 top10s until the end of his career.

I agree with this tho.
Velits despite a podium, I can never imagine him really contending for a win...

It was a rather big surprise. Specially when he won the TT. That was

I'm not so sure that Velits could not repeat his Vuelta ride. I see no reason why he could not do it again. Giro and TDF much harder. If he can break into top seven or so he would be doing well but can't see it happening this year unless the wheels fall off completely for Martin and Van Garderen.
