According to L'equipe the news is false but he is in a very bad condition

Brain death or sth. like that... In various Wikipedia pages, he was declared dead this morning. Good to hear there´s hope.

Also quite suprised there´s so little reaction on him here on CN, in the forums... Only explanation I see is that most here are really young and didn´t know him as an active rider. He was a star.

Then it´s logic. I, aged 27, also knew Draijer or Simpson only from hearsay, and couldn´t follow their active careers.

No he was not. He is/was best known as VDB's buddy and compagnon in several shady affaires. And like VDB himself he ended his cycling career in a mess - and died young.
