hi there.i just bought a pinella road bike in italy.the guy i bought it from can not tell me anything about the bike and on doing an internet search i can not find this maker.it has full campagnolo super record groupset and looks a quality bike.he tells me it is a late 70s or early 80s bike.any info on this bike would be great.

Any chance of a photo or two? Never heard of them maybe the frame was built by someone else and badged up as "Pinella" Any other details in lugs, BB shell, fork crown etc? Just did a quick google myself and all it yeilded bike-wise was the Bianchi Pinella, a modern frame, named after Coppi's legendary mechanic!

on the bottom bracket under it cinelli is stamped in to it.would this mean that cinelli is the frame maker.

It means whomever the builder was, used a Cinelli cast bottom bracket shell. Not cheap during a time when it was possible to source cast shells from all over the world, most at much lower cost.

Photos would be good. Baring photos, what kind of dropouts were used?

If there's little to no information out there, maybe it was one of the many builder employees doing something on his time/dime somewhere. Just guessing though...

sorry dont have photos yet but will put some on when i figure out how to upload them.the dropouts are campagnolo and most of the group set is super record so looks to be a decent old bike in super original condition including the paint.

Have to wonder if there is any connection to Pinella di Grande. He was Fausto Coppi's mechanic and made frames for Bianchi

I found the Bianchi Pinella as well, there was a steel version made pre 2006. Perhaps the op's one is an early version?

Any chance those dropouts were chromed? You've got a frameset where no expense was spared. That's for sure.

Roberto I'm really keen to see some pics of your bike. Love Campag equipped vintage steel bikes. What you need to do is get your pictures on flickr or photobucket or similar type site. From there you can stick them in your posts between
. Sorry for the crap technical description there but I'm pretty useless with computers myself!! Think it's the URL or BB code or something you need to stick between
. There I hope that helps!!

pinella bike

i have just received an email from the bloke i bought the bike from in italy.he tells me that he was talking to the man he bought it from and that he had it made for him in the early 80s and that it was fausto coppis mechanic pinella who built the bike.that is all the information that i can gather on the bike.pity there are not more bike with just the pinella name on them and it might be easier to identify then.

Yes Roberto that's really nice, and a real bargain too. Apparently "Golden Pliers" Pinella built Anquetil's 1967 hour record bike for him so if it's true your's is a real gem. :D

well its a real nice thought, would be nice if it was made by him. i really bought the bike because its my size plus it has a lot of super record stuff so didnt sound too expensive as postage is included in price and other than grease on the bike looks really good.

im glad to hear you think its a good bike as i bought it on the basis of the super record equip on it, and its my size.and judging what super record parts are selling at it seems a good deal.
