Polar S series Cadence Sensor Problem

Hi guys, wandering if anyone else has experienced and fixed a problem with the S series Polar Cadence sensor where it stops working beyond ~ 30cm.

Summary of the problem.

I had a working Cadence sensor for 3yrs.
Starting getting 00 readings so I decided to change the battery.
Put it back in same position, could only get readings beyond ~ 30cm and not from the handlebars.
Tried switching the jumper on the circuit board to increase signal distance - no improvement.
Tried a second new battery, different brand, no improvement.
I've ruled out the watch which picks up Cadence on my other bike, with a newer sensor / magnet combo mounted further away from the handlebars.

I'm now questioning whether the magnet could be the problem (not sure how?) and am thinking of taking the working Cadence sensor off and trying it on the 'not working' frame.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and resolved it?

Experiencing the exact same thing.
It just 'stopped'. I replaced the battery and it worked for about 4kms and hasn't since.
I've replaced it, and have sent an email to polar for troubleshooting solves, but am yet to hear back. Will definately send it back for repair if they'll accept it and can fix it.

the issue I have had is that with a center mount it would not work with a aluminium stem but would work with a full carbon stem.
I know its a diff issue but it does suggest that the output/frequency is sub std

of course these things do fail/wear out...

digital versions have far stronger signal

Did you get any signals when you changed the battery? I am but just not enough distance.

I think i'll send mine to the Polar Australia repairer and see what they find.
