Froome vs Contador at La Vuelta

Surely this would have to be the race of the year if Froome rides and these two go head to head?

Contador with a point to prove after his ban and Froome out to prove himself as the best stage racer this this year (some would say).

There is three reasons why AC will win
1. He is kinda awesome.
2.He is the best GT rider of his generation
3. Froome got the tour in his leggs. You can be as good as you want but that will be a problem nontheless.

Screw the other reasons, 1 is what it is all about. :D

Alberto Contador is scouting many stages and there are many tricky finals.

Froome doesn't prove anything to be compared to Contador or even Andy yet.

Three reasons why, if he rides and is leader, Froome will win:

1) He has a major point to prove after being the best all rounder in both the Tour and last years Vuelta, but was shackled with team orders.

2) Contadors going from no racing to a hard GT. He can prepare all he wants but his lack of racing is a factor.

3) Froome will hand AC his backside in the TT, as will Sky do to Saxo Bank.

4) Contador won't be able to have any 'food supplements'

Why did you list four then?

1) He has a major point to prove after being the best all rounder in both the Tour and last years Vuelta, but was shackled with team orders.

So has Alberto

2) Contadors going from no racing to a hard GT. He can prepare all he wants but his lack of racing is a factor.

He will ride Eneco Tour, maybe he will go in some breaks, I hope so  Plus he has ridden all important stages already.

3) Froome will hand AC his backside in the TT, as will Sky do to Saxo Bank.

Are you ignoring the fact that Alberto is also a good TTist, especially in hilly TTs which is what this TT is. And also the TTT is very short, 16 km, there will only be minor time gaps, I think Saxo will not lose much time.

4) Contador won't be able to have any 'food supplements'

He doesn't need any.

+ You forgot one VERY important fact, Alberto will crush Froomie on Cuitu Negru and Bola del Mundo.

Good points. Should be a great race. If Froome continues his TT from from this tour and the vuelta, I'd put my money on him by a reasonable margin following ACs lay-off although I appreciate he is no Schleck against the clock.

In a 40 km TT, with a 3rd cat climb, Froome beats Alberto by 40 seconds max.

Seriously? When was the last time Contador lost 40 seconds to a GC contender in ANY TT, never mind one with a cat 3 climb?

I know you've been keeping your expectations low because of whatever reasons, but that's like saying Cavendish will beat Contador on the Angliru. :p

Alberto has shown enough in the TT versus Evans, Wiggins, Cancellara and others in the past that he is no slouch.
