Question is who's going to underwrite this project. Until thats announced, its all just talk.

They'll need to fill the roster with at least 50% outsiders as apart from Roulston, Henderson and Dean it's slim pickings. They might as well chip into Greenedge and ask for a Black sleeve or something. (Just kidding kiwis)

I guess Advanti are the ones putting in most of the money at this stage. I doubt they'll ever get a Tour spot, but I certainly see them perhaps getting a european contentential spot or something like that at some point in the future.

There are a lot of Kiwi cyclists on the American circuit. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of those broke through into the European circuit and did well.

Talk of a spot in the 2015 TDF may well be just talk at the moment. However like any new project you need a goal to work towards so you can plan for growth.

Unlike some overly ambitious projects that may have failed due to trying to go from nothing to World Tour, I like the fact that Pure Black are taking a planned approach to building a successful program.

To start at Continental level with a plan for growth over the next 4 years is smart, more teams should take that approach.

I say good on them and the best of luck.

This is almost laughable. They actually think that currently having three top pros and nothing else is a good basis to form a PT team around? Two of them probably won't even be riding in 2015.

They've also got a promising neo-pro in Sergeant at Radioshack but yeah, what you said.

Clinton Avery is still without a ride for this year. Surprised they haven't picked him up since the colapse of pegasus

Well go back to between 2004 and 20062006, Garmin-Cervélo, was known as TIAA–CREF and they were just merely a Continental team and were a million miles away from racing the Tour de France, and JV had a goal of racing the Tour by 2008, which lo and behold they did. Sure it's ambitious they are aiming for the Tour by 2015, but you need to have a goal to work with, and use that as a springboard to get more sponsorship and to go to the next level.

Do I think they will be racing the Tour by 2015? No personally, but then I never though the same would happen with TIAA-CREF, but they will need to employ more foreign riders to bring the caliber of the squad up to be aiming for Pro Continental status in the next year or two, and do more racing in Europe, and move up that way.

As somebody who was born in New Zealand and travels on a NZ passport, I would love to see this happen, but I don't think they will be racing at that level in four years time.

Well, I guess a New Zealand team with 5-6 New Zealand riders is at least not as bad as for example an australian nationalized team with 20-25 australians in the PT. And if they stay at Pro Conti level then I don't really care how they are formed.
