sorry but can anyone provide a nice feed to watch this stage and the rest of le tour?

for some reason in dim's site i always get "server not found" and i don't know how to fix the problem.

does it has something to do with silverlight? i am using ubuntu with firefox 5, so i can't use silverlight but i do can use moonlight. moonlight does the same but it's open source. the problem is that he still does not work with firefox 5 (it's a young release).

i will try with chromium...

answers and help are appreciated.

also, i am trying to watch it in another site but the stream simply does not start.
maybe it is a problem with the connection that i am using, lack of speed or some setting?

help is very appreciated.

now the problem "server not found" is gone.

but the stream does not start.

another one...
how can we watch streams in VLC?

Normally for sports I go to myp2p.eu (the forum sometimes has additional stuff too), for cycling steephill as mentioned or this is another alternative, although they probably all have the same links pretty much. If none of that works, the problem is your end, but I don't think Silverlight has anything to do with it and I doubt it's the connection speed either unless it's exceptionally slow.

And vlc: I don't know, I would suppose it is possible but I don't know how.

Try all the feeds on that list.

lots of sites are asking for silverlight so i am trying to install moonlight in chromium (the others simply won't start) since it won't work in firefox's new version.
spanish audio is all i have :)
flash and cookies are ok.

In VLC you open VLC player (click on the icon/select from the program list) -> media ->open network stream -> enter/paste the url of the stream -> hit play

thank you.

however when i paste the url and hit play, i does not start. witch url are you using? there's some preferences\settings that we have to look at?

where are you getting server not found errors? on the actual site? on certain streams?

we use lightbox for our videos, so its worth checking your video drivers. Ubuntu is happier with the advanced drivers installed for lightbox. We certainly dont use silverlight for any of our links.

If you can be more specific will try to get to the root of it.

when i clicked in the active eurosport feeds that was the message i got (server not found bla bla). in other feeds (not in your site) they asked about silverlight.

i still cant use moonlight in firefox 5 but i also have chromium.

then while still using firefox, at more or less 16h, the error disappeared but the stream never started.

were do i get those drivers?
can you post the command or the site?

when you click on our links, try right clicking and opening in new window. That should override the lightbox settings and then we can determine if its a lightbox problem.

if not the only thing could be flash issue. Generally we only put flv streams up, if theres a dire shortage of streams we put other things up but we mark them as mediaplayer, etc

with linux the best option really is sopcast and then viewing the sopcast streams. they are always a lot more stable and work in linux no problem., You are more restricted over language though.

details for ubuntu here
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/05/install-linux-sopcast-player-040-in.html

you need vlc installed as well.

It seems to be an embedded flash player so I'll try to dig out the url for the stream from there.

all of the sites use pretty much the same streams, we just repackage them slightly differently.

Unfortunately the actual stream is usually a fairly complex string.

We are focussing a little less on live video this tour and more on doing live text feeds.

We are covering every stage from around 2pm cet, with full text coverage and all the maps etc included.

All the text feeds are then archived at
http://teamskyfans.com/tdf.html

So you can click on any stage (coveritlive) and replay the entire stage commentary. The stages will all remain there after the tour.

question: why would you be working on text feeds? i mean i doubt the people that visit your site will prefer text feeds instead of live feeds

The tour is one of the races where the bulk of the people who are at home will have some form of free to air coverage. I think America is about the only place that doesnt have the tour live on tv. The hardcore cycling fans certainly will have coverage or signed up to something like eurosport player or the versus player.

There are a lot more Tour followers who are stuck at work etc and cant view live feeds and like to keep track of whats going on. A live tracker is much more work suitable than a video feed.

It also provides a permentant archive saving the job of writing up race reports ;) (its a two way thing as well, viewers can post comments as well, which are moderated prior to posting)

Our initial visitor figures have been pretty good, and we are trying to put out a ticker that rivals the likes of cn (we think ours is better). Getting good visitors, although interestingly we do see a drop off at about 10k to go. What we are finding is a lot of people keeping up to date with the race during the afternoon and then saving the surprise of the last ten kilometres for highlights packages later. Also getting a fair few people in the evening using it as a replay of the day similar to people here who visit the forum threads to read about the race as it develops.

Its also a trial run for next season. With the idea being to get more people involved (ideally people with access to e3 coverage etc) to provide coverage on all of the classics.
