Maybe 3? 4 if I'm generous, for reducing the number of obvious sprints. The goal was to make the Giro-Tour double easier to do. This is the year for California to really pull all the stops out, because Acquarone's attempts to water down the Giro are giving Messick his chance.

Looks decent to me. A couple of notes:
- too many MTF's. Some of them will be pointless considering no one will attack.
- that Gavia-Stelvio thing annoys me a bit. Just do it in reverse and you get something better with a descent finish
- a decent amount of TT is good for the race I believe. The MTT is an overkill I thing; MTT's should only be done once in a while in meaningful mountains like Kronplatz, Ventoux...
- the first and last stages are so bad....
- the Firenze stage, should have a couple more laps on the Worlds course.

We'll see, for now 5-6/10

6/10 for me mainly because as I explained in the rumour thread the route exceeded my expectations of a conservative Giro.

The shorter Mountain stages are the biggest thing I dislike.
A descent finish on a Mountain stage would have been handy too.

6 for me because of the hilly stages and the itt. the rest is pretty bad, mostly the short mountain stages which are just pathetic.

I agree. 6 for me too, but a spectacular race depends more on the quality of participants (riders).

well my rating is 8.
the route is not bad at all but it could have been better
after this year's pure disgrace of riding by the contenders,we all saw that coming. i just hope the riders will attack next year.

good things:
no prologue, i just realized i hate them.
the ITT looks lovely,55 kms is a good distance
overall the first week looks good, croce ferrata is decent, definitely harder than montevergine
montasio stage is very good and very well placed just after the rest day,so hopefully the riders will be well-prepared for this one
galibier but that's just because i'm a galibier from saint michel de maurienne fan
the MTT looks great, perfect for a rouleur climber. ullrich would love this. and so will wiggo.
tre cime di lavaredo comeback and overall a superb stage
there still are 230+ km stages

bad things:
lol TTT of 300 hundred meters, a disgrace that should be totally forbidden
there should be more than just one loop at firenze
val martello stage, make it 100 kms longer and in reverse.
the finish in brescia, don't like it. just like i don't love champs-elysees stage.

around 3400 kms, probably less climbing than in the last years but still this won't be an easy giro. wiggins will easily win, that is my guess.

Finally Giro organizers have admitted their mistake and have found out that GT consists of ITT and mountains.
To me mountain stages look reasonable, some good mountain stages are in week 1, week 2, week 3.
Stages 15, 19, 20 could be queen stages - there is no need to have more stages like that.
I also like that flat ITT is early in the race.
Of course good route doesn't guarantee exciting racing but Giro organizers have done a really good job. 10/10.

I just love you Jens! Especially because you mean no offence with this :)

I don't get why some people are complaining about short mountain stages. Make them long with five mountains, and the vast majority of times they wait for the last half of the last climb anyway. Some of the best mountain stages are reasonably short.

1 short mountain stage is great (100-130 km) But we also need multiple long mountain stage (200-230 km) In the first maybe people will attack from further out (I doubt it) and in the second people will be completely cooked and it will be awesome

Not in week one. There are only hilly stages in week 1

but being absolutely cooked often paralyzes any attempts to attack. the tour showed correctness of 150k stages, imo.
