can i jsut say sucked in?

riders now are protesting everything. Protesting at the beginning of the stage has definitly lost its meaning. The sport is meant to be hard and the racing to happen rain, hail or shine. the courses might be tough and sometimes hazardous. thats cycling and thats why we want to see pro's race, because they of all riders should be able to handle it. time for these riders to quit being pussies, HTFU and get old school.

onya to the few who raced on

Too Bad

Neither bike racing or Uruguay need this.
Such a beautiful place.
I can't believe the officials would not suspend the race if there was a serious threat of lightning. But just wind and rain, too bad, yeah, HTFU.

The problem was they cancelled the race in the morning and then expected them to race in the same conditions in the afternoon. I'm with the riders on this one, they felt their safety was in danger more than what is reasonably expected and protested. Good on them.

riders being precious. deserved to be DQed.

they all rode the course anyway at 50kph+, so what were they crying about. - sooking after their protest failed, they ride, then still are ejected.

aqt leats 30 guys still rode the race and in sotuh america there is no place to whine and complain. only 30 guys from now on will contest the win and among these 30s are basically the best riders in gc anyway and all the topfavorites from uruguay and also the colombians who of course will ride through earthquakes without protesting

Organizer canceled the AM race. More than 2/3 not only protested - actually refused to ride the afternoon race.

It is not infrequent to change or alter races when conditions effect the riders safety; cold, snow, mudslides are common causes, so it's not a stretch to cancel an entire day of racing.

Whatever - the show will go on. I would trust more in the riders than the organizers. One has to look after one's own hide.

well either it was serious or you don't have humor. I think it might be both.

If there was lightning I am pro-protest. If there was not lightning then I am against it.

Think it was more of an issue of inconsistency by the organizers. I am sketchy on the details tho.

It was my understanding from the article that most of the leaders and GC hopefuls were protesting... so it'll be won by a "hard" rider. As it should be. A rider willing to go rain or shine, wind or calm.
