Remco Evenepoel

Performance must be measured season by season. A climb from two years ago doesn't define the current season. In sports—and especially in cycling—two years is a long time.

I don't remember the last time a rider who showed no climbing level during the season suddenly outperformed everyone in the mountains at the Tour. Wiggins?
In modern cycling it's curious, because nowadays their climbing level throughout the season has to be high to climb like that at the Tour.
Wiggins in 2012 was climbing much better than Evenepoel throughout the season. He was winning every stage race, even though they all had super easy climbs.

But Froome, Thomas, Nibali all have done the train yourself into form until the Dauphine hits, and Nibali was even questionable in said Dauphine before the Tour

I'm not a psychic but I'd think if Decathlon go hard on stage 20 across those 3 HC cols, then Evenepoel is going to have some problems and the cracks people are used to will suddenly appear again.

Meh.

Seixas is seriously underperforming in my view.

Remco has been called upon by doping agents late at night as well todday/yesterday.
I'm curious wether they visited Decathlon/lidl as well.

If he performs at the same level as he did on Sunday, he shouldn't struggle. I actually expect a collapse for Del Toro; without Pogačar's support on Sunday, he would have cracked mentally.
That desperate "don't drop me.. If he hadn't had none other than Pogačar at his disposal, Del Toro would have completely fallen apart.

With Vingegaard in the race, I have no doubt he would have ended up collapsing, because Pogačar would have had the ambition to go for more.
Obviously, if Decathlon flies the way they did the other day, Pogačar won't be available to babysit Del Toro.

Remco's form felt different on Sunday.
Also, I suspect there was some sort of pact between Remco and UAE not to hurt each other (Remco and Del Toro).

But if Decathlon blows the race with Prodhomme like they did the other day, someone is going to crack, and all signs point to it being Del Toro.

With all the nightly visitors i do wonder if we are headed for a reset, or if this is just helping Seixas.
If it's the latter i can't support it. if they are genuinely trying to clean the sport. it's a different matter.
I know a clean sport is a pipe dream, but the cleaner the better imo.

Meh.

Seixas is seriously underperforming in my view.
It didn't surprise me; we had already said that he was overtraining compared to the rest in spring. He did a Tour-level preparation in the winter, whereas others don't usually undertake high-altitude mountain training until just before the Tour.

There are riders like Del Toro who didn't even do altitude training in sprint. Seixas had been overtraining since December, so his form in the spring might have been disproportionately higher than others.

Even so, it’s an impressive level for a 19-year riding his first Grand Tour . We have yet to see if he can step it up the third week; if he manages that at 19, it will undoubtedly be a remarkable performance, given that this is the week when he ought to be struggling the most.

Seen an article this morning about Evenepoel/RB being subjected to a perfectly routine test within the window. I think if the ITA are waking up Pogacar and Vingegaard during the night based on vibes, without a direct and immediate suspicion then they're in the wrong, but I'd be wary of people jumping on the bandwagon on this one to express preconceived grudges they have with the doping authorities like some seem to be doing.

The year Seixas makes his Tour debut. Will Seixas also be subjected to a surprise test for delivering the best performance in history at 19?

Well, I don't think any team will go super hard on stage 20.

The only team that was going to do it was Visma.
UAE won't do it because Isaac is prone to cracking.

Ayuso is prone to cracking.
SEIXAS I think is also prone to cracking.

Out of the top 10 the most durable guy for me (outside POGAČAR) is Lipo but he is in Remco's team so Redbull will be passive as well.

yesterday evening these teams have been also tested (source AFP)

Decathlon CMA CGM, Groupama-FDJ, Picnic, Jayco-AlUla, et Bahrain ont aussi été testées selon l’AFP.
It still strikes me as a strange coincidence.

And yes, subjecting Decathlon to scrutiny is a way of saying, "We do this to everyone, not just their rivals." But let’s not be cynical; we all know it’s a way of restricting and interfering.

The other day, Decathlon dropped Yates and McNulty.

I also think Decathlon is going to be aggressive

ffs the ITA is international, as is the UCI, they are not Seixas fans.

They can be aggressive but they will crack their leader.
BENOOT and Prudhomme rode like knuckleheads.

well they are not calling the right shots, Pog is butchering their race day after day
Pog is so big now that he literally can't be busted.
The only thing they can do is 'scare' him and try to limit his dominance.

If Pog falls down then cycling will go into coma for the next 10 years.

But Remco’s case is different. We’ve seen remarkable performances after rest days before, but Remco’s situation stands out because, for the rest of the year, he wasn't climbing well at all, yet now he’s outclimbing his rivals by a wide margin.

This isn't a case of a rider who was already at an elite level suddenly putting in a massive climbing performance; it involves someone who, in stage races throughout the year, didn't even crack the top5 among climbers, getting beaten by Lenny and even mediocre riders like Munton.

The kind of thing you’re mentioning—superlative performances after rest days, or surprise breakthroughs like Victor Lafay or Healy on Mont Ventoux last year—is something we see in every Tour. But Remco’s shift from barely being able to climb all year to becoming a podium favorite is truly striking in the modern era.

Nowadays, a Tour podium contender needs to show strong climbing level throughout the season, whereas we’re talking about a rider who, the rest of this season, was being dropped on climbs by third, or even fourth, tier riders in mountain.
Not really suprised you didnt answer my earlier question, cause you also know that your golden boy is the all time biggest cheat. This Remco after restday is pure semantics compared for what pog&dracula have been doing since late 2010s. Since you registered here you're biggest agenda has been questioning pogs competition, but say nothing about the most suspicious one of them all. I smell something suspicious here.

And about the butchering of ASO's race.
Some people hate the dominance but the majority of the cycling world love it and were pissed from POGAČAR's attitude on Sunday.

If POGAČAR rides like a domestique on Alpe D'Huez there will be huge negative outrage from fans.

Yes, that kind of level jump within a single season is quite unprecedented, especially nowadays, when they need to start the season with a high mountain level to contend for a major result in the Tour.

Remco has performed disastrously in the mountains all season.

So tell me, what other rider has shown disastrous climbing form all season and then was the second-strongest climber in the Tour?
In modern cycling, that is quite unusual.

In any case, you can't claim that this is the norm, or fall back on that answer simply because you can't provide another example or argument.

Yes and teddy boys goat level only became since joining the UAE/Gianetti program, so it is even more artificial. He seriously doesn’t even look like a top cyclist bodywise. I still don't get where does that unlimited power all year round comes from. I honestly think it is very very more beliavable to achieve absolute top form for few races a year, than that you are over superior every race all terrain all year. It screams high quality and very expensive/special doping program, my guess still is somekind of novel genedoping since 23/24 winter. Before that it was just old school superjuice, pog still looked human.

If you look the third picture here and compare it to no muscle babyfat pog, which one of them looks like a powerfull roadcyclist? I am not a professional, but basically every other top athlete looks like highly trained and in super shape. Pog is an outlier in this too. There really has to be something really special inside the body to generate the apparently unlimited power all year round. His not even affected by heavy crashes like every other riders is. #cyborg
