I asked on twitter if they also take missing persons reports..

In that case i would like to report a certain Brian Cookson that apparently has vanished...?

Ahh well... The more serious part...

From the announcement:

For everybody to have a fair chance of succeeding in their chosen sport, that sport must be clean at all levels: from athletes, through to their supporting staff and administration. As part of the UCI’s continued fight against doping, we are giving everyone an opportunity to report any circumstance they feel may constitute a violation of the World Anti-Doping Code.

All e-mails sent to reportdoping@cadf.ch will be treated confidentially by staff of the Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation, the independent body mandated by the UCI to plan and carry out anti-doping activities in cycling.

Thank you for your contribution to a clean sport of cycling.

It seems from this everyone can report....

So clinic, please get on with it.... ;)

(all though not confirmed, because somehow they newer answer when I ask them anything on twitter....)

Well, not that serious so let me try again...

What do you think of this?

Hello UCI Hotline, I think Froome may be doping. That tailwind on the Ventoux just wasn't reasonable. Also those egg-beater accelerations look very suspicious.

Why, mods, whyyyyy, must The Hog be banned when this of all threads gets started? :p

In my humble opinion

It is hot air.......

Not even Cookson is out endorsing this as a victory of anti-doping, and a succesful CIRC reccommentadion accomplishment ..

And he has sold much less, for much more....

Apparently Brian Cooksen is not missing..he's been spotted sliding into the pool at his villa in the Swiss alps holding a large bacardi and coke... :D

That was really funny! :D

On a more serious note.

Can I report Strava violations?

There is one cheater that is really starting to p**s me off, and its time for something more serious like a two year ban.

Dave.

Phone ringing...

"Thanks for calling the UCI doping hotline, how may I assist you?
- I'd like to report a doping case.
- Sure. Can I get the name of the offender?
- Bradley Wiggins.
- Oh. Can I get specifics?
- He's doing micro-dosing EPO and Aicar.
- How do you know?
- We used to be in the same team. He still owes me money since 2012...(hangs up)"

The hotline idea is something that came up in The Clinic before as a tool against doping. Good. Better when we see that there's follow through and some big names get exposed. Or is it going to be swept under the carpet? Time will tell. But if I were a clean domestique disgusted to be cheated by dopers, I'd give it a try.

And was derided, appropriately.

It isn't an answer, nor a path to an answer. It might be a potentially useful part of a very comprehensive program. And, that is about it. With its actual usefulness hard to measure.

Will 'trained responders' answer any/all calls? Or, will it simply go to a call center somewhere in India?

Its not like anyone in the pro peloton is going to have the hotline number on speed-dial. And, it might get greatest use in a 'swatting' type prank as suggested above by Tonton.

Maybe they can print up stickers that pros can put on their handlebars: "If you see someone doping in the race, call 555-HOT-LINE."

Dave.

As an example, looks how effective Kara and Adam Goucher going to the USADA has been.

I mean Salazar lifetime ban from coaching is a clear victory.

Oh wait, that hasn't happened.

- (Siri voice) Hello, this is UCI doping hotline, how can I help you?
- Listen, I tried to dope, spent fifty grand, and damn big fat NOTHING! Still last in our local race, what's wrong?

- Have you tried turning off your program for few weeks and turning it on again?
- Well, sort of, went to Kilimanjaro on high alti holidays, and forgot to bring the med-bag...

-Looking at the data from your area I can see that most of the riders are on silver and even gold programms. No wonder they beat you. But you can try our VIP program with the best specialists in the field...
- Great! I'm in.

- Please wait, we're looking for the best consultant to satisfy your needs... tralalatilididulidummm ... so our best choice Dr. Ferrari is momentarily not available, Dr. Fuentes is on holidays in Canary Islands, but we can offer Dr. Leinders. Hourly consultancy fee is ....

-Hello, UCI Hotline, I need to report somebody for doping.
-What evidence do you have?
-Well, he's been named in about 647,859 separate cases, had his house police-raided in Italy, been chased by the feds in Texas, and never tested positive.
-Lance is already banned.
-No, I'm talking about Popovych, for god's sake! How have you guys not popped him?!?!
-Uhm...uh...um...don't ever call this number again.

All good points Dave. Not the silver bullet, but one tool for the small clean guy to be part of the solution instead of silent, part of the problem.
