Great guy from Philly, that did alot for cycling in town and around the U.S., and perhaps the rest of the world.

A person who knew him much better then I, said this about him in an email.

"Today is a truly sad day for cycling in the US; any brief article cannot do
justice to the contributions Jerry made to cycling in the Philadelphia area
as well as a professional sport. His accomplishments on and off the bike
are too numerous to list.

He was a mentor and friend to many riders who have become household names and pillars of the sport. Many of us grew up or came of age in the Hill
Cycle Shop and affiliated clubs/teams. If it were not for the sport and
life lessons learned there, the cycling landscape in the US would be
drastically different.

The Philly Pro Race, Univest Grand Prix, and Gran Fondo Philadelphia are
all direct descendants that owe a debt of gratitude to Jerry Casale."
