This man is wearing all the "crown" any American would need:

Being a commonwealth country, australia gets a lot of coverage. 4 out of the 5 main television stations in Aus covered it. Most of the channels started their coverage 4 hours before the actual ceremony. There has been so much crap about it that it ****es me off big time. I find it ironic that Julia Gillard who is an atheist and wants Australia to become a republic goes over to London and sucks up to Charles and the other royals.

I also hate the amount of money that is spent on it. I understand that it is a big occasion and that paying all the workers involved is necessary but they could cut down on some things that aren't needed as $80 million is too much.

England have suffered from their economy failure. So they needed this wedding and the chasers to go over there. Then they issue a demand to not let the chasers commentate. It did help the english people have hope but the rest of the world chose to broadcast it exclusively. Also the coverage got rid of all the footy/ AFL

Which Commonwealth Heads of Government did not attend? Were the ones that did attend all "sucking up"? Like it or not he is our future Head of State and it would have been a joke if our current HoG didn't attend (or have a very good excuse not to).

People seems to want it, so why not?

I bet people can think of similar arguments against, for example, Tour de France: too expensive, too much coverage, what good does it do, it's all show.

Well, it doesn't matter as long as people want it to continue.

Rather have royalty than movie stars for my part. And I rather watch sports than either. But each to their own.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm so incredibly sick of the Royal Wedding. Even though it's finally over, it's still plastered all over everything. What a bunch of aristocratic glop.

America will never need royal anything.

Plenty of Americans over there, covering the wedding. I'm sure American television was not immune. Amazing how many rich people have such bad taste in clothes. They should have left the barriers up and had a criterium. Then I would have been more interested !

Where I work, you end up "representing" your country whenever it's in the news, whether you like it or not.

So even though I'm a republican (small 'R'), I found myself having to expound on the subject of British royal history. I didn't mind that much, but I was genuinely furious when the office bandwidth ground to a halt during the ceremony. J'en ai marre.

I said it was ironic, I never said she shouldn't of turned up.

I couldn't agree more, but why bring it up on a cycling website, I come here to get away from the eyewash.
By the way a survey in England (not Britain), found that 78% of those questioned didn't have any interest in Bill and Kath or the wedding or indeed the royal family (intentionally did not use capital letters). Maybe it's time for the parasites to go.

I for one congratulate Britain, the Commonwealth and especially William for such a beautiful future queen. Beats Camilla and Charles by light years and that's something worth celebrating :)

But then 34.7 million watched at least part of it on TV (and another million were there in person), so a lot of those people must have changed their minds.

Boris Johnson, mayor of London, got them a tandem as a wedding present, so she might yet make a babe on the back of a bike post.
