Ruta del Sol - Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucía 2021 (May 18-22)

Stage 3 has an interesting route even if the hardest climbs are the 2nd and 3rd ones and they're both easier than the side of the 3rd one they use in the descent. Nevertheless it's good to see they go through the rarely visited Sierra del Segura.

Climbs

Stage 1
Puerto de Mijas

Alto de Carratraca

Alto de Setenil

Zahara de la Sierra: first 1.5k of this profile

Stage 2
Puerto del Higueral

Puerto de Rute

Puerto del Mojón

Alto de la Hortichuela (2x)

The final kilometer has an average gradient of 9.8% but that's only half the story: we have 570 meters at 11.4% partially on hormigón, then a cobbled wall of 450 meters through the castle gates before a relatively easy final 150 metersto the finish line. There's a brief section where the cobbles are interrupted by hormigón, as you can see below. It's a shame that this stage clashes with the Montalcino stage at the Giro...

Stage 3
Alto Cañada Catena (final 13.9k only)

Puerto del Yelmo (until the junction at 3.6k)

Puerto de la Toba

Alto del Fustal (as far as the junction at 500 meters)

Alto Collado de los Yesos

Puerto de Onsares (they finish 200-300 meters before the summit, according to the roadbook)

Stage 4

Stage 5
Alto de la Geoda (2x)

A rare opportunity for Sebastian Henao to ride for himself and with the support of the team. He was excellent in Algarve and if MAL is slightly off his game then Henao can take advantage.
I would have thought Eddie Dunbar would be the team leader for Ineos although it will probably be decided on the road.
