Via Contador Notebook on Twitter.

With great sadness we share the news that theswordsman died on August 1. We will miss him very much. The family of theswordsman ask that he be remembered with random acts of kindness done in his name.

Valued member of the forum, made some really good posts in his time.

Rip John.

Thanks Dim,
I had just read that on twitter and was about to post it - very sad news.

Like most here I have never met John but had plenty of interaction with him here and on twitter.
He was a former Armstrong fan, but when he turned, boy did he turn.
Then he became an admirer of Contador and he has been one of his most vocal supporters over the last year - we often had opposing views on the information he presented, but he was never malicious and often revealed his humor.

Not only has Contador lost a big supporter - the forum has lost someone who helps make any forum worthwhile, by presenting information and facts that lead to dialogue and debate - I don't know who is going to keep us updated when there is a clenbuterol outbreak in some orphanage in Mexico.

As Dim noted, we lost one of our own and I will certainly take up the thoughtful offer from his family to do a random act of kindness in his name and honor.

To theswordsman
RIP John.

I never read his tweets. but as I said in the General News thread, I always thought he offered something to this forum and I'll miss his contributions to this forum. 54, that is way too young :(

So sad! I. Enjoyed his posts and the incredible amount of information he gave me on my favorite rider. So sad and way too early! Will look to do my act of kindness in his name.

RIP John.

RIP John.

Too early to leave us, too many acts of kindness not done.

May we all help to fill the shoes he has left behind.

RIP.

RIP John, always handled himself on the forum with dignity and was always respectful to others here. Sad news, indeed.
