sagan VS young cav

as a cyclist, I believe that sagan is just something else.

but what about pure sprinting at the same age? how do you think they compare?

obviously sagan has the better motor so he is fresher at the finish and that's his advantage, even if cav is a little faster.

what's your opinion?

I'm also a great fan of cav..he will most likely end his career as the best sprinter ever (potential for 60 gt stage wins, more than one MSR, more than one worlds, olympics, more classics, etc).

(the point of this thread is to compare the sprinting ability of a 21/22yo cav vs sagan)

I doubt Cav will win a WC again, next 3 years all have actual hills in it ;)

Sagan is much better than Cav at the same age. The latter could hardly finish a race at the time when Sagan was already dominating stage races.

More classics? Yeah, I'm sure Cav will win a classic that isn't named Milan-San Remo one day. ;)

4years from now cav will still win a lot (bar health problems)

G-W. he already won KBK. what's the other that is a sprinter classic that he already won at 21 or 22?can't remember.

i specified that the purpose of this thread is to talk about pure sprinting, not who is the best at something else.

I already gave you an answer: Cav hardly finished a race when he was as old as Sagan. Hence Sagan was a lot better than a young Cavendish in pretty much every aspect of cycling.

Cav has only won one classic in his career and that is Milan-San Remo. Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne is merely a semi-classic.

Exactly it is a classic so as you didnt specify what type of classic KBK is also counted.

Sagan is undeniably better than Cav overall at the same age and he seems to be getting faster...
What will happen when he races Cav at the Tour is anybody's guess yet they are 2 totally different different riders as Cav is also about the acceleration yet Sagan is about brute power.

Tbh very excited for the Tour sprints between Sagan, Greipel, Cav and Kittel

In his first year as a pro he was really bad until he won his first race in the Scheldeprijs(this is not a classic, just an important one day race for sprinters). His first, and only, GT of that year was the Tour de France(2007) where he had to abandon.

In his second year as a pro he did win 2 Giro stages and 4 Tour stages yes. But it's important to note the absence of Petacchi and Boonen in that Tour.

No, the term semi-classic is used to describe one day races that aren't real classics.

Sagan will outsprint Cav in this tour and his carrer will start to go down
Sagan to be the most dominant rider of this generation

Don't you think that there is room for both of them?

Sagan should not focus (peak) on the tour.. i hope that he is doing it to get better for the olympics and to learn something.

Long, flat, wide boulevards Cav may win.
Anything technical, with any kind of moderate hill before or during the sprint Sagan wins.

Sagan is already the better rider, maybe not the better sprinter yet (might never be faster on a pure sprinters course). What a talent he is tho.

The funny part is that when Sagan won everything in Tour of Cali everyone here was talking about how lame and easy the Cali race was. Now, after he won just about every stage in ToS everyone is talking how great he is. Go figure :D
