Saxobank silent in transfer market

Has anyone noticed that SaxoBank are not present in the transfer market? Does any one know why? I thought when Saxo bank renewed the contract one of the goals they set was for the squad to be strengthened. they were going to give BR an open check. Also AC said that his team is weak, period. With a stronger team the double may have been possible.

Wonder if something has changed...

Well, there has been rumors about people going to Saxo Bank. Tony Martin, Thor Hushovd, Alexander Kristoff have all been mentioned in connection with them. No confirmed transfers so far but that's an indication that they are a little active on the transfer market at least, unless those rumors were totally fabricated.

Lucky them. Seems like the best riders have already been snapped up which is a concern for Saxobank considering their poor performance in the Tour.

Saxo is in a hard spot. GreenEdge and Sky are going to be active. I would not be shocked to see Porte heading to GE soon too.

I thought Tiralongo would be Saxo bound. The guys I thought of, without knowing their contract situation were David de la Fuente, Barredo, and maybe Irizar, but I think Irizar has already been snapped up.

Porte has already ruled out GE. think he is going to Sky

Yes, Porte is going to Sky, although I'm not sure why. Think he'd be better off and have more opportunities at Saxo. Has Tony M been mentioned in connection with Saxo? I hadn't heard that one. Might not be a bad move for him, at that.

Sky do value time-trialists who can climb a bit. Imagine they've offered him good money it could just be there set up that attracts him. Either way I hope he concentrates on 1 week stage races for a while and not go straight after GC contention.

I agree. He would have learnt a lot from Riis and Contador. Moving to Sky is a weird one as he will have even more riders ahead of him re GC opportunities. I think Quiickstep are pushing hard for Martin.

Yes that is what I wonder, did the top riders avoid Saxo because of AC's case? Or because it seems the team is built around only AC? maybe that is why Porte is leaving, I thought he felt his wings were clipped in the last TDF, that he could have done more.

Right now we seem to have just low hanging fruit left. And Saxo needs, 1 solid pure climber and 1 solid (1 week race) GC rider

Riis is plotting. Dude's brain is so active that the follicles on top of his head burnt off. He seems that way a lot o the time, anyway.

Not really that many riders who are available and without a contract next year.
New super teams with super budgets are turning the whole transfer market to a mess making it extremely difficult for smaller teams to compete to get the few riders who actually are available. Saxo is not the only team to be quiet this year - many teams are.

They have brought in Christopher Juul Jensen, so not entirely silent.

With Porte leaving (and isn't Larsson leaving too?), you'd think they have a bit of money spare.

At least they have a certain GT win next year and no other team can say that.

How about Freire? Maybe Saxo Bank is one of the teams  Sastre?

Porte was a nobody when they signed him, i'd be surprised if he was on much above the minimum.

I'm almost 100% sure that Troels Vinther also will sign with Saxo Bank. But yeah, pretty silent right now.

Well should Contador get cleared they have a 90% chance of winning the Tour next year. So if seasons are to be based on Tours thats them settled.

Course if theirs more to the TDF then Contador will also go wild on Vuelta and probably a few 1 dayers and PM. That leaves the Giro and cobbles and other week races.

nuyens isnt going to repeat. Then again a few wt teams have no one for cobbles.

It would be good if they could fins one more decent rider to show at some point in the season. Its a shame Matti Breschel left. But having Contador will probably be good enough.
