Hats off to the guy/s at SBS who puts together the little highlight clips to music shown at the end of the ad breaks during the [Australian] TdF coverage. That clip to the Benny Hill show theme music during Stage 14, featuring among other highlights the pom-pom girls and Jim Ochowicz slipping over on the side of the road, was hilarious!

Yes, that was quite funny although in saying that, I find many of those montages that act as a transition from the ads to the live racing are simply too long and we, the viewer often miss some of the action.

They drive me absolutely mental. The fact that they are after every single break and go for such a stupidly long time is a joke, just makes me want to punch the TV. They are so unnecessary, if they had a few each night it would be alright but by the time you finished a stage you have seen 10 mins or so of their stupid montages.

+1...just a stupid way to waste time. They inevitably miss something during the course of the tour while doing this. Last year there was a crash on the descent just as they cut to the ad break and you had to suffer through that crap before being updated.

Add it to the missing half hour (cooking!!) at the beginning of the broadcast each night and it can be an extremely frustrating experience.

I thought there was meant to be a (self-imposed) limit on how much advertising SBS include in their programmes. It seems like there's an ad break every 10 minutes (at least) during the tour coverage and each lasts about 3 minutes. It's almost as bad as the commercial channels

The Benny Hill clip was quite good but generally they don't add much to the coverage.

I think they have them quite close together at the start of the coverage so that they don't have to cut away for the last part of the race. Just my thoughts but could be a reason why.
