Fantastic.
McQuaid to serve now.

She's spelling out my thoughts:
If UCI/McQuaid have nothing to hide, why weren't Landis' accusations classified as "worrying"?

It's actually kind of a brilliant time right now. McQuaid said that he'd welcome any kind of investigation with the same kind of hubris Armstrong used when he said people could call Trek & ask about Contador's 2009 TdF Time Trial wheels. The difference is, the times they are a changing.

Right now bike manufacturers are successfully fighting the $13,000 sticker, race organizers like the Vuelta are fighting to not have their races shortened or otherwise tampered with, riders and teams had a successful race radio protest at Mallorca that had the UCI Commissars leave the event, the ASO had to step up to avoid a similar protest today, Landis spoke about corruption, the CAS has three Biological Passport cases, and now Schenk has called McQuaid's bluff in a big way.

Keep up the pressure, guys.

"But I could imagine that a medical explanation - whether accurate or not - would be found and accepted."
"The UCI should have initiated a process to ensure an objective investigation. Also, Armstrong's 'donation': the UCI stated different amounts, dates, etc., and it never made any account receipts public, even though that should have been easy.

McQuack is gonna part of ioc so it hardly matters to him, but if it can clean up the uci and get it working at a 50% of what it should be doing for cycling it will be a 50% improvement on what currently happening.

well done Schenk

Good for her and I hope this goes somewhere.

Mind you, she does seem unequivocal that cash for negatives would be almost impossible to pull off. Is she being naive or are the accusations of vanishing positives simply untrue?

Matschiner has had a good peek in the kitchen of anti-doping-land. If we may believe him, it's not impossible at all.
Indeed, she's quite unequivocal, so it must indeed be difficult to pull off.
But impossible? Amrstrong/Bruyneel/Verbruggen? nah..

McQuaid would welcome an independent investigation that’s commissioned by the UCI

Also needs the scene where Frank finds the missing evidence is the Contador case as he's casually cleaning his desk - "My god he was innocent! - What ever happened to him George? - "He went to the chair 3 years ago Frank".

Schenck is obviously a bitter, malicious ex-UCI management member with an axe to grind and zero credibility.

Absolutely Mr.DNA - whenever the word credibility is used it could almost be swapped for 'leverage' or 'power' or 'favours owed', that's how twisted this whole thing's become.

Ok, so Frau Schenk is one of the good guys. Is there anything realistic or sensible that we can do to support her?

We need to make a fan based "take over the local organisations" efforts to directly elect the people to UCI's top and then put her in charge.

Meet at the coffee place round the corner, say, Saturday 2PM and get started?

EDIT:
Seriously, though, I'm not too un-keen on the idea of using the contact data being collected in the sticky to lobby the organisations for change. Even if it does nothing more than become a "boring" read for Paddy at least it's an effort...

Alcoholic, man-hating German.

/heavy/heavy sarcasm.

How long could the current administration at the UCI withstand a true proctological assessment of their dealings?

I think the skeletons would be tumbling out of the closets...

"I doubt that a positive result could be covered up in return of a payment," the lawyer and chairwoman of an international organisation fighting corruption, Transparency International, told Cyclingnews on Monday. "But I could imagine that a medical explanation - whether accurate or not - would be found and accepted."

I think this a scary statement from someone that was on the inside. I think she is telling the investigation - should it happen - what to look for. If you read between the lines, she could be telling us how positives get 'hidden'...

My only issue is why is she coming forward now - she's been out of the UCI since 2005... What's her motive?

OMG a which hunt!

Which careless corruption detail will finally cause the balloon to burst?

Of course, we don't have to use much imagination with respect to 'medical explanations'. What was that you said about saddle sores Lance?

That excuse is about as probable as the DUI claiming it was the rubbing alcohol used to clean their skin when they got their flu shot.

Dave.

I really like that she's coming out and putting some questions out there, but I don't know that anything's going to come of it. Not sure who would follow up.

I'd also have to say her comments are pretty restrained. I think her view that a positive can't be covered up comes off as naive in the wake of the Contador case. I mean on one hand, you could say that case actually proves her point, but on the other, you could say that clearly the UCI tried to suppress the information. Who's to say how many times it has gone the other way and never come to light?

Interesting development.

This fish stinks from the head down. No bottom changes will influence what Hein and Pat are doing/want to do with the sport. At minimum, there's no transparency at their level.

Also, Ms. Schenk's has been retelling this story at various times. Now, same story with added credibility from recent revelations.
