Kuurne Bruxelles Kuurne - just brutal weather

The Giro obviously

Best stage race of the year?
I know im biased but I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of britain this year.

Best Stage of a grand Tour?
Duh.. Stage 7

Best Rider?
Tough one, but Im going to go with Nibali. He's been thoroughly entertaining to watch this year. However, a couple of other riders are close, so may change after lombardia

Best win?
Vino in LBL

Biggest Surprise?
1st - Lance's amazing implosion on the cobbles, I honestly thought it would be Contador who cracked.
2nd - the fact Contador and Vino were genuinly supportive of each other

Quote of the year?
It was the steak

Biggest Dissapointment of the year?
Sky having to quit the Vuelta in the circumstances they did

One to watch in 2011?
Ricco, if he can avoid any suspensions I think he is going to take races apart

Depends what you mean, but Spartacus' win in P-R was so impressive that the Italians figured out he had an engine in his bike so that was pretty damn good

Best one Day Race of the year?

I loved fleche but that is all about the mur. I thought the spring classics were average this year. Maybe LBL was the best but I wasn't happy with the winner.

Best grand tour of the year?

Clearly the giro

Best Stage of a grand Tour?

Montalcino at il giro, though the cobbled tdf stage was pretty awesome.

Best Rider?

Because one of my selections in this one is a tad biased I will have 2 best riders. Firstly cadel, contested and rode well in every race and made some sort of impact. Showed versatility and class. Secondly Gilbert, the guy is just so strong and is a fighter. Wish he would come to bmc.

Best win?

Can't go past evans at montalcino. Epic!

Biggest Surprise?

Vinokourov winning LBL, I hated it but it was a surprise that he peformed so well there and has come back strongly.

Quote of the year?

Biggest Dissapointment of the year?

Lance crashing at morzine. It would of been better to see Lance get dropped on the final climb and suffer so he couldn't blame his losses on a crash.

One to watch in 2011?

Greg van Avermaet - yes he is going to bmc but his performances at the worlds, la vuelta and some of the italian classics have shown how hard the guy works for his leaders. If he gets his chance he should post some good results in some of the classics and some stage wins in grand tours.

An additional question: Funniest moment of the year?

Listening to Liggett and Sherwen on the stage to morzine Avoriaz. "Poor lance, poor lance!"

Best one Day Race of the year?
Still to come? Classics were not brilliant this year. Let's vote for the Worlds, that was good.

Best grand tour of the year?
Giro. No explanation needed.

Best Stage of a grand Tour?
Difficult. Some stages in the Giro, but I also enjoyed the Madeleine stage in the Tour and the stage to Andorra in the Vuelta.

Best Rider?
There was no standout performance. Gilbert maybe, but then he didn't win the worlds. Nibali was good, with two GT podiums.

Best win?
In terms of how I enjoyed it, Anton in Andorra.

Biggest Surprise?
Vino making it in that Tour stage. Good one.

Quote of the year?
No idea. Maybe the big talk of Sky at the beginning of the season. That was funny and became funnier throughout the year.

Biggest Dissapointment of the year?
Anton fall in the Vuelta.

It was amazing to watch Canc power away from Boonen on the Muur...I do accept the subsequent result was predictable.

Best grand tour of the year?
Vuelta was great, but I watched the Tour highlights with my dad every night so good memories...

Best Stage of a grand Tour?
Stage 14 of the tour. It was great seeing Schleck and Contador pulling away from the rest, then mark each other out so attentively they slow right back down and let the others pass.

Best Rider?
Cancellara was imperious

Best win?
Vino at L-B-L was GREAT

Biggest Surprise?
At the time it was surprising to see then MJ wearer Cadel dropped so easily. Obviously we learned the reasons afterwards...

Quote of the year?
"It was the crashes that ruined it for me" (Or something to that affect)
As if that was the reason he didn't win the Tour...

Biggest Dissapointment of the year?
Team Sky didn't really match up to the hype

It was funny seeing Cav get cross about coming second instead of first in the Vuelta's final sprint stage when the sprint jersey was already more than wrapped up...that guy loves winning so much...not necessarily a bad thing..

RW... with the WC as a close runner up

Best grand tour of the year?

The Giro but the vuelta deserves more credit, and deserves a better spot on the calender.

Best Stage of a grand Tour?

Can't decide. but the best in each GT:
giro = stage 7
Tour = stage 3
Vuelta = stage 20

Best Rider?

Cancellara. Honourable mentions: Evans, Gilbert and Nibali

Best win?

Cadel Evans stage 7

Biggest Surprise?

Sagan, but he kind of faded out, Richie Porte did a more consistent season.

Quote of the year?

can't remeber the exact words but Lance was asked about his expectations just before le grand depart "nothing can happen during this tour that will make it a failure"

In hindsight the reporter should have followed his own question up with something along the lines:
-Not even 100 crashes, and the whole team failing in generel?
-No we will settle for the all important Team GC and a stage victory for one of the lower ranked riders.

Biggest Dissapointment of the year?

Radioshack, I think they should have showed the sport more respect. Okay Bruynell would have said that it's not their fault, but maybe they would have recieved more invitation if they weren't so obsessed with the tour.

One to watch in 2011?

I'm Biased like hell. Matti Breschel. Usually the spring classics is top entertainment, but next year I will follow more cloesely than ever. I'm so proud that Denmark yet again is a factor in these races. It's been a while since Rolf Sørensen was around.

An additional question: Funniest moment of the year?

MTT in the Giro. Arroyo in pink and all, then with approximately 1.5 km to go. The mechanic comes out of the car, graps the spare bike. On foot He's trying his best to keep up with Arroyo. And he's not exactly athletic.

It looked absolutely ridiculous, but hey great to see so much commitment from the mechanic.

I find it amusing everyone is saying sky for biggest disappointment. Sad really.

Best one day race: tour Flanders (mainly coz I was there)

Best stage race: giro

Best stage: montalcino (was also there )

Best rider: hesjedal (sp?)

Biggest disappointment : riders doping still and bringing shame on sport

Best win: I took great pleasure in Russ downing stage at criterium international

Biggest surprise: the exciting nature of the early part of the tour of Britain

Ones to watch next year : Any little Colombians, especially Colombia es Passion if they race europe. Mainly Henao (really hope he races). If no Colombians then Danny Martin, winner of the Tour this year.
