Serious jail sentence for perjury!

The defence of the sprinters and their coach asks for clemency, claiming that they have offered a lot to the country and that it is disgraceful that such decisions be made for Olympic champions.

They cheated for themselves in the name of their country. That is not offering much.

I hope another person well known in the clinic is stupid enough to claim in court that he has done"too much good for too many people".....

Doesn't it strike anyone that lies to avoid a doping control are treated as bigger crimes than doping itself? Actual jail time, people, also for the doctors involved!

I must say I agree with the sentence. The truth, and oath, are no small matters. If you are prepared to lie about your doping, prepare to go to jail for those lies as well.

I am of the opinion that dopers should lose all professional results.

Except a Doctor is an esteemed member of a society. They are granted certain privileges. One of which is not getting prosecuted for some crimes like being the supplier of PED's. Factor in that people like winners and winning where the means justifies the end. In most cases, the doctor is forgiven.

In the U.S. crime processing system, some drugs have very harsh penalties while others seen just as harmful biologically have much lighter sentences. Yes, doping positives, if there's enough evidence for a case, should be a felony.

An unintended consequence would be the market for backdated TUE's would be very active.

The athletes aren't going to jail. They got suspended sentences. (Actually a fairly soft sentence).

Sorry I missed the suspended part, you are right. As with such a long trial, what's the chance of them ever recomitting this crime? Then why are they daring to appeal? Seems tricky, if you just got off...

From another article: "In several interviews, she has denied the claims made against her, noting that she has never tested positive for an illegal substance."
Haha, to not test positive you need to be tested first, at the tester's convenience! :)

I thought avoiding a test is also considered a positive test?
