Short story: the team with the most laps after 6 days wins.
You can also score points. For every 100 points you get a bonus lap.
If 2 team end within the same lap, the points are the tie breaker
Longer story:
-Six days are raced by teams of 2 (composed by the organizers, rather than by the riders)
-Every day, the teams have to ride different disciplines (mostly every day the same ones)
-Most of these disciplines are done by 1 of the 2 team members, some are with two (with only one racing at a time, as in the Madison, constantly relieving each other)
-Standard disciplines are: Madison, Sprint, Time Trial (one lap, flying start), motor (derny) paced, (team) elemination
-Except for the sprint, theoretically the teams can gain rounds in every discipline. In practice, you'll notice this is only done in Madison, and sometimes in the derny race
-6 days is folklore. It's a sport for the people. There's beer, there's music. But there's also sport. (although some of the disciplines sometimes look more like entertainment acts than competition).
Try to catch a real live 6 day race, rather than watching it on a screen.
Oh: and the CX season is starting. No reason to worry
