Sergio Luis Henao!!

http://www.biciciclismo.com/cas/site/noticias-ficha.asp?id=37281

If you thought Duarte was going to make an impact. Henao is even better and younger. I already thought and said last year they were getting uran to lure in this amazing talent that after his incredible win in vuelta colombia last year(age 22!!) had almost any pro team after him.

so far they seem to be doing well with uran so let's hope henao will be able to adapt well also.

All part of the program to get a British Tour winner in 5 years ;)

Come the Tour de France, Sky will find themselves in the toilet, just like last year.

Winning these pre-season races is for pretenders. Like Sky.

Sky is the biggest waste of money of a team in cycling since that Russian team- Katusha or whatever the hell they call themselves... that supposedly has a $20 million/year budget and nothing to show for it.

There was a rumour about this a while back, good to see it is looking a bit more solid.

Oh plz.... NOT SKY!!!!!!!
Movistar should go for him! but INMEDIATLY! They have presence in Colombia and Venezuela and Henao will fit the perfect image for marketing!
Also Unzue would be a perfect teacher! and He will be more comfortable in a spanish team!
Geox could be good too! Sastre is over the hill, Menchov is going there and They will need a GC rider to share leadership with Fabio! Ok they are not ProTour but next year they will be!
BUT... I'd like to see him in Androni! ;)
just Imagine that team with Henao!! but is ok... is just me dreaming! :D

You made my day Ryo.:)

Too bad it happened so late. He should have been in Europe long time ago. Well, only time will tell.

movistar did anything in their power to get them as did geox, but he didn;t want to come, same with quintana who had even more offers, also from radioshack.

honeslty thouhg I think movistar would be the worst choice as they only seem to ride for valverde's sprints in every mountainstage and rojas in every flat stage.

why?

uran came to europe when he was 18 and henao has made much more progress because he stayed in colombia. uran in his caisse days looked to me like he was clueless and without a goal, something that hasn't happened with henao by both colombia es passion and orgullo paisa. the guy is a star in colombia and especially antioquia since winning the vuelta last year.

for guys like him and uran only way to succeed is to be under excellent guidance like uran was with unibet and now with sky.

So what's the attraction of Sky?

Apart from pots of money and weakest GC guy, obviously.

the attraction is having the weakest gc guy, meaning the road is open for them to become leaders. sky wants to win the tour while in spanish teams the thing often is that a spanish guy needs to win the tour.

Well, Movistar (and Once toofor that matter) aren't exactly the spanish teams that are known most for their explosive attacking climbers eventhough there are a few exceptions. They are the teams that paced guys like Indurain, Olano and Jalabert up the mountains with the whole team while it was other teams that had all the small attacking climbers. (And I assume Henao is of the smaller attacking type rather than the steady paced Indurain type?)

movistar on paper may have the best climbers in the pro tour but they never attack, just always ride/rode for valverde's sprint or rojas 2nd place. they used to have riders like jimenez that animated every mountain. and now I already read unzue crying for valverde's return, oh please...

henao is one of the most explosive riders I've ever seen, he's also really fast and build more like a sprinter than a climber, but he is an amazing climber. anyone who has seen the wc u23 2009 will remember his attacks on every climb that no one could follow, they really animated that race.

For me was a wise desicion... He wanted to prepare better and be more mature, get more results and raise his already high price in the market... also preparing himself mentally to be in the european scene! He knows that is not the same like it is in Colombia, Botero can tell him that... We will see a pretty adapted Henao...

Meh... the problem with SKY is that is a British team made for a British GC guys and that is their main goal, if they find them Uran and Henao will be just domestiques for them... the problem is to find those guys ;)
mmmm for me Geox could be a better option... OFC, that is the sponsor keeps the sponsorhip and they can get a ProTour license next year!

In their 3 GTs so far (including the shortened Vuelta) their leaders have been:

Giro: Cioni and Possoni
Tour: Wiggins (plus Lofkvist)
Vuelta: Lofkvist
Giro 11: (expected) Lofkvist and Possoni

No great rider has thus far been sacrificed at the altar of Bradley Wiggins.

sorry ryo you will see...henao and uran will work for wiggins.this is very sad.
Doing your first Tour as a domestique has never killed anybody. Usually it's a good way to get to know the race and having to perform but without too much pressure.

Henao's 23. In the unlikely case that Wiggins performs well enough to sacrifice the rest of the team for him, it's not the end of the world or of Henao's career.

Wiggins will not be sky's gc man next year. I doubt even this year.

Would be interesting to see henao and uran work together, I presume they're good friends? I bet matt rendell is chuffed

I do say it would be bad for henao to be used as domestique because you take out their goals and dreams with that. henao wants to be the first colombian to win the tour and to make him a helper could crush those dream (momentarily)

but it will never get this far because we can all see wiggins has no real business in the mountains. he will never come close to winning the tour I think.
