Smart or Shameful?

Shameful might be too strong - but I needed a word that began with an S.

Race is stopped 15 min for an injury. One of 3 riders with a small gap off the back of a pack of 50 riders when the race was stopped walks to the front of the pack for the restart and is riding in the top 5 the final laps.

Good thing to do?

FYI -Brentwood Cat 3 this year.

Nope, just that a persons injuries are far more important than a sports result.

Sure... but it looks to me that the person who did the described 'trick' (for lack of a better word...) pretty much exploited the injured person.
If said person hadn't been injured the race wouldn't have been stopped, and there would've been no change of getting to the front like that.

Which of course just tips it more towards 'shameful'!

This also happened to be the District Championship.
I thought the race should have just been stopped and re-raced sometime in its entirety.
