And is Lisban Quintero their scapegoat patsy?

A far more interesting question than labeling him a 'Bozo' - I doubt anyone has any idea who this guy even is, and perhaps doesn't care.

CRCA is the oldest and largest club in the US and casts a huge net in terms of the diversity of our numbers. Sadly, this includes a few dopers. However, given the size of the club, at least so far, there have not been many other positives. Everyone in the club is wondering how many more are using but just are not getting caught because there is no testing at this level.

As with the Pro's --it's so hard to guess what that # is.

Hey OSN - Thanks for the link, and perhaps I should have just logged this under the 'Bozo' Thread - where I quoted the content of the VN article that inspired this thread - but, obviously felt it was worthy of further discussion.

Given its history and admirable longevity CRCA is an obvious icon in US Cycling. That being said I also thought the USCF was moving the sport in the right direction. I was wrong.

So as you point out, who really knows, does one bad apple spoil the barrel? Or is the barrel bad? Maybe before we throw an individual rider under the bus, we should investigate the 'system'. Systems change over time and periodic review is probably prudent.

It is indeed 'hard to guess'...

I opened the thread to create a dialogue, thanks for making it successful.

The closest thing to an answer I could find:

"Lisban Quintero came into the spotlight in 2010 when he won his first NRC race, the Base Camp International while racing with the amateur CRCA/Foundation team. In May 2011, he finished 8th at the Bank of America Wilmington Grand Prix Road Race in Wilmington, DE.

At this point, the details of the positive test are unknown."

I had never heard about this club/org, not being American.

I looked at all the links, flipped through the site, and was actually impressed. This is the type of club North American cycling needs - it's big, monied, well supported, puts on races, supports juniors, and seems to be accesible.

So what if some d*uche got popped?

Let's not fall into the tragic trap of throwing the baby out with the bathwater...
