You are free to follow his expert opinion. He is after all the personal physician of Evenepoel and Indurain. All he does is make personal attacks, and then spreads lies to try and persuade people he knows what he's talking about.

The team is still working with the same trainer that started not long before Evenepoel turned pro. He has since been training Evenepoel and some of the other high-profile riders. This guy has zero experience training GT riders except for working and experimenting with Evenepoel, and Mas when he turned pro. One year his perfect GT weight is 60kg, the next year his perfect GT weight is 62kg, and since the Giro it is suddenly 63kg again, or even higher. No experienced GT trainers have been brought in by the team to form a second opinion, assist or take over. The DS that has been mentoring Evenepoel for the past years now, is a young inexperienced manager, who has stood out due to tactical ineptitude more than anything else. Let's see if he or Steels will be in the team car, come TDF. Not that Steels has any experience leading a GC team in the TDF, but at least he has experience and seems to be a bit more clever. In 4 years time, the "GT team" that they have put together are, Van Wilder, Landa, Hirt, Vervaeke. Not to berate Vervaeke, but there will be at least 60 better climbers than him at the TDF. Hirt has been useless (and this is not really a surprise considering his strengths and weaknesses he showed in the past). That leaves us with Van Wilder and Landa. Both quality riders, but Van Wilder's progress surely could have been greater in 2.5 years at the team.

So... does this scream "we are (/want to be) a top GT team that goes for overal victories in TDF, Giro and Vuelta"? To me it doesn't.
I don't feel free to believe anyone, I just want the facts and then make a critical analysis. What you are saying seems like a fosilized way of doing things.

"He is after all the personal physician of Evenepoel and Indurain". What a weak and cowardly reaction. And a wonderful example of projection. What could be taught to psychology students in college.

Logic likes to pose as an insider, which is already hilarious. But the fact that he publishes such nonsense, far from any scientific background, is unacceptable. Perhaps he can briefly explain his background as a trainer, nutritionist and scientist. For clarity. I am "only" a scientist, but not a trainer or nutritionist. That's why I don't write untruths like Logic.

I am very critical of the (scientific) guidance of a number of top teams, such as Soudal-Quickstep, VLAB, UAE. I agree Hirt is not the ideal rider in the climbingteam of Evenepoel. Certainly not after having him ride the Giro. That's a mistake by the team.
But overall, I prefer the more credible approach from Soudal-Quickstep. A more credible approach that also has consequences. Human shortcomings, riders with bad periods and breakdowns. That's how it should be to be credible. But also withdrawing from the competition in the event of viral infections, and certainly in the case of Covid. Which not all teams do. Last year in the Giro, Evenepoel was forced to give up. Kuss and Roglic, who also had mild symptoms, continued riding. Then it all ended well. Not this time in the Dauphiné. Kuss continued to ride with his Covid infection (which some still label as a simple "cold"). This time, it didn't ended well. And we all know how it ended in the Bahrainteam with Colbrelli.

Finally. The main reason that Soudal-Quickstep cannot/could not attract better climbing riders is financial. With the budgets of UAE, VismaLAB, Bora etc, the team would also have strong climbers. At the same time, the other top teams would have fewer top climbers themselves, which would change the value ratios.
One positive part of reaction coming from Logic. He for the first time admits Van Wilder's progress surely could have been greater in 2.5 years at the team ". Which is of course a euphemism. We can only hope that Van Wilder gets back to his level. But his performance at the national was not very convincing.

Honestly, I feel like you and Logic actually agree on a lot of points. Logic might be a bit more focussed on the weight issue while you are harsher on Van Wilder's form but it seems to me that it is more (both) your styles of posting that rubs you both the wrong way instead of the actual content.

Just my two cents, I'm not claiming to be an expert in reading between the lines so please don't shoot me if you feel I'm completely wrong. :D

Well, then, if Belgium wants another Tour champion then he has to go to a big budget team. Evidently budget counts as much as talent and thus you can't have one without the other to win the Tour. Perhaps in this sense Remco truly should have gone to Ineos, but now it's too late. So either Soudal finds more financing and the expertise to help Remco win the Tour or I don't think it's gonna happen.

Dude does not post untruths, except for claiming the biggest reason for Evenepoel's failing in the 2021 Giro did not exist (which in turn led to a series of wrong conclusions and where we are today), and even after i posted a DATED Instagram post that proves he is LYING keeps spouting nonsense. I can also post an interview where Evenepoel says, ON CAMERA, how he was too skinny during his REHAB. Then there are also the interviews with Lefevere, winter 2020-2021, where he said he was mad with the team doctors for not taking better care and monitoring a young inexperienced rider more closely, letting him in charge of his own recovery, which led to him RELAPSING in his injury early 2021.

As for Van Wilder... Dude was in the break for 200km on Sunday and was the 3rd strongest in that break. On a classic, non hilly parcours. Clearly in bad shape for a climber who just got back from altitude training. Lol.

Only science and facts. Mwahaha.

Oh, and by the way, trainers, managers and nutritionists cost a lot less than (top) riders. You don't need billions to improve this team or Evenepoel.
