Sportive preperation after Blood Donation

I'm doing a long hard sportive on the 10th June and yesterday I donated blood. Thinking that it would be back to normal in plenty of time for the ride.

Out of curiosity i checked online today about recovering from blood donation and it appears it take 4-6 or 4-8 weeks for your red blood cell count to return to normal.

Has anyone got any advice on what I can eat, training plans etc to help speed up this process or is there nothing that can be done and it just how long the body takes ?

Include enough off-bike rest days so that you feel fresh and strong for the bike days.
Concentrate on endurance / recovery type of riding, with very limited short duration 'hard training'.
Avoid getting exhausted from your riding sessions - after the ride you should have enough energy for other typical daily activities.
Get good nutrition, with perhaps some extra protein.
The June 2012 issue of 'Road Bike Action Magazine' has a very good article about nutrition.

I don't understand the question?

Did'nt Ferrari give you a meeting place and time before June 10?

Whilst you wait for him to reply eat 10g of carbs per kg of bodyweight per day so you RBC have enough glucose to keep working and replicating. Go to bed early too for max HGH release.

Thanks for the tips. Foolish on my behalf to donate beforehand but they don't come round my area that often and I think its important to donate.

And this ferrari bloke I deny all allegations I ever met him ;)

I ushually eat 2 iron pills for 5 days after donating, i think the body craves iron after the donation so i add a bit of extra iron to boost the erythropoesis.
